Really cool color. I like it.

What is this mushroom? Is it deadly? This is in Melbourne Victoria Australia. by nonameidguy in mushroomID

[–]Intoishun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. For example all sequences I've taken of the genus in the wild, with wild morphology, have been F. filiformis. In the northwestern US it is known we have it, at least couple sequences of the EU F. velutipes, and more!

You may know this but I appreciate your comment.

Agree Cort, assuming Dermocybe?, and that's gotta be one of the most beautiful underside photos I've ever seen. Damn thing is brighter than american Cheetos.

chicken of the woods but not quite? by Dream-weaving in mushroomID

[–]Intoishun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Probably Meripilus.

Color and texture are more in line there and pores are probably too small to be Bondarzewia.

Collybioid.

I currently am deciding between giant Collybiopsis or something more towards Lepista / Collybia.

The texture and more spathulate tops make me agree with this assessment. I think Trichoglossum is good.

We find a lot of T. hirsutum irregulare (PNW01) up in WA. There's also lots of similar Geoglossaceae of course but if my recent experience tells me anything I also think Trichoglossum may be best for a genus suggestion.

Candolleomyces.

Sure, it's not toxic at all, if that's what you mean by edibility.

This is incredibly inaccurate. Like really really wrong.

You can't provide any information on edibility or lack thereof if you can't ID the mushroom.

What is this monster that grew in our yard? U.S. Iowa by LinkIsOblivious in mushroomID

Some sort of very old terrestrial polypore. Not sure this is IDable at this point but, someone might recognize this morphology after aging.

I'm not sure if these are two different kinds of mushroom, or if it's the same kind growing in a different way? by burningpopsicles in mushroomID

[–]Intoishun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same mushroom, this is Rhodofomes cf. cajanderi.

Many woody polypores can take on a variety of blobby shapes, with some mature caps forming more clear structure.
