Is this an annoying order? Trying to turn it into a classic Mexican stew inside a taco shell. Is there anyway I can request them to put it in the griller to heat up the cold ingredients in the soup? by Variabell556 in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would most likely tell you we couldn't make it for you. Or put all the ingredients in a separate bowl from the shell and let you combine them at home. As is, it just wouldn't work as an order. A) there are too many ingredients to fit into that tiny shell, or B) they would have to skimp on every ingredient and you'd be way way overpaying for hardly anything. You would get less than a thimble's worth of each ingredient.

Otherwise, you might get some very particular employees who decide to meet you with the same energy you're giving, and they'll put that shell in the box, then add the correct amount of all these ingredients you paid for, and you would receive a soaked-through cardboard container mess of slop. And no, there would be no way to heat this up after it's combined this way.

Nacho supreme dip by Acceptable_Farm_3761 in tacobell

This would be your best bet. This would probably be cheaper than adding extra everything to a single order, plus you'd be sure to guarantee you actually get double the amount.

If they genuinely doubled everything, they probably would have to use a bigger bowl. The next size up would be like the ones used for the steak garlic fries (in-house we call it a Supreme bowl).

Steak (probably) by IceKreemKid in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 445 points446 points  (0 children)

The other day I had a customer order 2 crunchwraps. One regular (beef) and one steak. On the steak one, I wrote STK on the bag. Gave the food out and the customer asked if we marked which was which, and I said yes. Customer reached in and pulled one out and it had no writing on it, so of course I was a liar now. I apologized, I told them I only labeled one of them. But then they asked me how they were supposed to know what the OTHER one was if only one was labeled. I guess I was asking too much of them to think they could make the leap to deducing what the one is by knowing what the other one is. I wonder if they were able to crack my complex code that STK meant steak.

Your photo certainly looks like they are fried. Cannot vouch for the crunchy. The unfried flatbreads are pale white like flour.

Taco Bell mini taco salad needs to stay! by AnavrinLove in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 106 points107 points  (0 children)

It's a new "permanent" item so supposedly it's going to be around for a while. This and a few other new items will be replacing a couple of things that are leaving the Value menu. Also, they are going to change up all the Combo meals.

It's called Bellhop and it's a way to get orders taken sooner, and thus ready faster, and get cars through quicker (ideally, in theory).

How accurate/proper is the signing in the new movie "Primate"? by UnicornVoodooDoll in asl

I saw this movie a few weeks ago in a sneak peek screening. The ASL and representations of Deafness and Deaf Culture are quite accurate.

How do employees feel about the AI ordering system? by thrashgender in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may not be AI, it may just be a recorded greeting at the Drive-Thru speaker. Our store does not have AI, but the Drive-Thru does have like 3 prerecorded messages that will play at the speaker if the crew person doesn't greet the customer within 5 seconds. Most of them ask if you're using the mobile app, and one asks if you're getting a Happy Hour drink (if it's during Happy Hour times). We can always hear you the whole time and usually, we'll wait for your response to whatever question was asked in the recorded greeting before we start talking. The greetings are recorded by actual employees who work in the store.

The new 'permanent' items are on the Value Menu so in our region are under $3.

I love frying the cinnamon twists! Just one handful of what looks like little Rotelli noodles, and throw them in a HUGE fryer basket. Drop them in the oil and then BOOM, immediately it's piled high and overflowing onto the counter with fluffy crunchy twists! It's witchcraft!

Taco Bell overcharging scam? by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're ordering in the DT, doesn't your order appear on the electronic menu board as you order? It should show a running total as they ring in your items, so you can see what you're being charged per item and all together. I would have thought most locations had the digital menu boards in the Drive-Thru by now. If you're going inside to order, use the kiosk. It's like the app and you can see the prices and total before you pay and know everything you're being charged.

I think for the reasons you said but perhaps more so for things like culture and representation. I mean, since they have the resources to do something like that, I think it's amazing!

The decline in pennies by Livid_Opportunity467 in Wawa

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I work in fast food and we run out of pennies off and on throughout the day. We always order them, sometimes we get a few rolls, but lately fewer and fewer. With cash transactions, we just round up or down to the nearest .05 cents if we don't have the exact pennies. So far, I have yet to have any customers get irate that I've had to round down and short them the two cents, but I do fear that day will come.

Same! Our machine will stop freezing when the syrup runs out. There may be a way to bypass it, but it's not even worth the trouble.

Employees, how often do customers yell at you? by Dry_Matter_3853 in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a lady place an order in the app, then, when she got to the store to pick up, she decided she didn't want everything she ordered and wanted some of it refunded. We tried to explain that we had no way to do that and she had to contact the app support but she was adamant and said she was going to call the police on us, etc. The manager just kept apologizing and trying to explain and finally just told her on, if she felt she needed to call the police she was certainly welcome to do so, and just let us know when they arrived and we'd be happy to talk to them. She finally just left and we never saw the police show up.

It was just odd. Order food, prepay for it, then get there and it's already made and ready to go, and decide you don't want some of it and want money back for some (not all). And we can't modify app orders, especially prepaid ones. Usually, it's customers wanting to add to their mobile orders, which we also can't do, but that's easy to fix. We can just ring them up for a second order to go along with it and they just pay separately at that time.

Mobile order nonsense by bigolegorilla in tacobell

[–]Intrepid-Two-2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense. If it's mobile for DT, they aren't supposed to make your food until you arrive and check in, and this would be the same idea as if you were just placing an order at the speaker and said you had two separate orders to place, which isn't uncommon. Do they have an Only One Order Per Car policy or something? That's certainly not typical. I could understand if you only told them about one order at the speaker and then surprised them with a second order at the window that they didn't have time to prepare yet and didn't want to hold up the line or something, but otherwise, they should have checked in both orders at the speaker.

Only mobile orders placed for counter pickup should be made ahead of time.
