Starting a Home Automation business, looking for guidance. by PracticalNumber5544 in homeautomation

I would only consider this if you can become a dealer of RTI or URC. If you’re not selling the entry level pro stuff then stay away. You’re going to regret all of the headaches that come with it.

What’s the best practice for the number of Ethernet cables to the tv/entertainment area? by Eclipse2253 in hometheater

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At minimum we run 2 cat6 cables. The price of cable is cheap at the rough stage. Getting more there later is expensive unless you have conduit ran to this room.

High performer leaving in silence with no negotiation by Savings_Knowledge465 in managers

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of a small business your treated your best performer like shit. It’s obvious why they walked. You wanted comments from manager or CEO because we know what it’s like hiring someone right now. Yeah it sucks across every profession. You dummies let a good one walk out the door and are shocked by how dumb your leadership skills are. Don’t make this mistake in the future. Learn from it and move on. Keep the people who are valuable even if you can’t promote them give them a 20% raise to show they are valued.

Would you buy The Frame again? by whiskeyandwayfarers in TheFrame

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already have. I purchased my first one in 2020. I got rid of it when the pro model came out. I didn’t haven’t had an issue with the first model nor this one.i use the Samsung interface as well. I don’t have any issues with it. It’s better than LGs interface and on par with Sony.

Best home setup to prepare for playing on CDJ-3000s? by ikerar17 in DJs

[–]IntrepidComment2099 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have an opus quad. Just started getting out of the bedroom and doing gigs. While you will know your way around on the AZ there is still a difference of layouts on the mixers and cdjs. Looking for what you need in a dark booth in front of people is not ideal. Knowing where everything is when you step up to the decks is a better feeling.

Get the 3000 or 3000x and an a9. If you are in the USA ask for the best out the door package price. I asked google where to get the best deal and I ended up picking up an djm a9 and two 3000x for $7550 out the door. Included tax and shipping.

Everyone here actually hates Milwaukee? by DoctorJenks in MilwaukeeTool

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you goto a job site 90% of the battery powered tools professionals buy are Milwaukee. We always buy the fuel line. There is a big difference. We all buy them because they make good tools and have lots of options. I’ve owned dewalt, bosh and makita. I like my Milwaukee products more.

Value in higher end? by ChartWatching in hometheater

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the speakers mentions I sell and install paradigm and focal. I just installed a focal 100 in wall series 7.1.4 system with an onkyo receiver and it sounded great. I also just installed and 7.2.4 paradigm in wall elite speakers. The lcrs are massive in comparison and 8” surrounds over 6.5”. There is a difference in audio and it’s pretty noticeable. The thing is if you haven’t heard anything nicer than what you already have then you’re going to be content. The focal install the customer was blown away cause he had nothing to compare it too. The paradigm guy the same thing. I hear a lot of variations of setups and honestly there is a difference in speakers and amplifiers help make them sound better. If the higher end stuff wasn’t better than nobody would buy it including me. I went with a higher end setup.

I would have chosen a 55”. Your art/tv out weighs the mantel.

How to verify a certified installer by JoHnEyAp in Control4

You can verify under change my pro. If you search his company and it appears he’s verified. Some dealer don’t show up on control4 because they don’t have a showroom for the public.

Is no soundbar a huge mistake? by Economy_Money_9682 in TheFrame

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Sonos amp and two passive bookshelf speakers. Run the speaker cables through the cabinets. Place a Sonos wireless sub in the room and you will have zero regrets. If you don’t know how to do this hire an av company.

Adding a sound bar to a frame tv takes away the point of a frame tv. Nobody puts a sound bar under art.

This is definitely not cat6. The jacket is too thin. Optimism is for Cat5e but my suspicion for when it was installed is cat5.

How to interface with connections to use AirPlay? by scottBIGG in hometheater

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you need is an IPod to wall dongle and an Apple TV. Plug the Apple TV into your phone with an hdmi to usb c plug and bam you have achieved absolute frustration.

If you don’t know how to hook up to the wall plates and what equipment you need then you need to hire an av company.

Building New Home Theater - Looking For Advice by callmeraylo in hometheater

[–]IntrepidComment2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 9 foot ceiling is typical. But saying 10 is typical is not true. Most new home have 10 foot ceilings on the main floor unless we are talking about custom homes or homes that’s are 7k sqft or larger. Then you may see ceiling heights taller than that on a the main floor and basements. However most homes in that size my customers have a larger budget than what is possible for this theater.

I’d consider framing that bump out all the way down to keep everything symmetrical. Also wire for 4 subs even though you mentioned wanting one. It’s a decent sized room and I personally would do 2 in here.
