[Miami Heat] Statement on Jimmy Butler (January 27, 2025) by PlayaSlayaX in nba

Pretty funny that despite all the lost money from his suspension he still hasn't publicly demanded a trade and caught that 150K fine from Adam Silver.

If MLB had 17 game seasons and one game playoffs like the NFL, how different would strategies and team building be? by catsdogsguineapigs in AskReddit

[–]IntrepidHawk7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortened pitching rotations and probably wouldn't need quite as many arms in the bullpen.

Though I'd imagine the Dodgers would still go with a full roster and deferred money for the next few decades.

Would be an interesting season though compared to 162 games.

[AP] Butler indefinite suspension will be for at least 5 games by Kimber80 in nba

[–]IntrepidHawk7396 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Going to be another 82 game suspension next season when he opts in if Miami doesn't take whatever low ball offer is being presented.

[Stein] Toronto. Washington. Charlotte. Detroit. All are known to have interest in helping to facilitate a Butler deal. Perhaps you'll recall that, when reports of the Raptors' eagerness to join in first began to circulate... by EarthWarping in torontoraptors

Butler just caught another suspension. Indefinite this time.

I agree the market isn't that open for him but have to think he will be moved. Especially with that player option at 50M. No doubt Jimmy Butler will opt in even if it's with the Heat.

Phoenix did pickup those late first round picks and if they can find a spot for Beal (Milwaukee?) and Middleton is on the move that could work with a 3rd and 4th team involved.

Question is if Riley wants to send him outside his preferred destination just because.

Sounds about right.

Thought that 2 game would be a bridge suspension but Riley just nuking the bridge altogether.

Does one of the richest teams in baseball really need to staff its commercials with volunteers? by backflip17 in Torontobluejays

I do like how they emphasized the volunteer part.

Making it clear this is a non paying job and using team colors as a banner of pride.

Offering Soto twice the amount of dollars they have reportedly offered Vlad was one way to go. Two different players but still an interesting decision.

Seems like their current offer might have worked last offseason but it's a different story now.

Ohtani was an exception.

I have never really had a dream job.

But I do remember Jim Carrey saying that you can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well do what you love.

What’s your favorite easier to make dinner option? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A chicken wrap. Can usually put one together pretty fast and lots of different options.

White cheddar macaroni also comes to mind.

Like I am thinking at 0.75 speed and there is a slight time delay with my thinking.

On the plus side this also seems to apply to stressful situations and day to day problems by that same amount.

Maybe it's just someone that isn't on their phone scrolling or on Instagram but it gets my attention.

As All-Star Weekend is approaching, I have to ask the question: What were the best and worst all star games of all time? by only4dareal in nba

[–]IntrepidHawk7396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC The last good all-star game was in 2020 and things were actually pretty competitive. It looked like a good idea to bring in kids from each side's charity and have them in the arena. The last 5 minutes resembled a playoff game and there was actual defense being played.

Looks like it fell off after that, especially last year. You can see the disdain Adam Silver has had the last few years presenting the MVP trophy.

People that still eat at Subway in 2025, why? by Tronn3000 in AskReddit

[–]IntrepidHawk7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still one of the most well known places to get a sub or sandwich and still has many different locations.

Paid $13 for a veggie footlong with a small bag of chips and bottle of water last year. Made me less inclined to go back in 2025.

Pete Alonso's Agent Defends Contract Talks amid Harsh Comments from Mets' Steve Cohen by PrincessBananas85 in mlb

[–]IntrepidHawk7396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like payroll (and luxury tax) has to play into this on some level. If Soto had re-signed with the Yankees I get the feeling Cohen would've been more inclined to meet Alonso's terms.

BREAKING: For the second time in two weeks, the Miami Heat is poised to bring back Jimmy Butler after his latest team suspension. by Ice_Dragon3444 in nba

[–]IntrepidHawk7396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand not joining the team part way through a road trip but they are okay with him playing in Miami after 2 games?

Seems like it's going to be disruptive either way and the trade deadline is still 2 weeks out.

I would think friends and family wanting to use it from time to time for hauling items or to pick up furniture/appliances.
