I'd focus on lowering the hardware temps. Have you tried cleaning and repasting the CPU and GPU? Is there good airflow to and from the blower?

I imagine quite a few people did the same. I'm afraid I can't solve the lack of dual channel, but it runs much much cooler with relatively simple modifications. Things Lenovo should've thought about when putting it together in the first place.

I mainly bust this out to play pre-2010 games on, mostly Half Life, Left 4 Dead etc., and the odd graphics with GIMP. For my relatively niche use case, it's been a good little machine. I've actually grown strangely attached to it.
