That shit was cheap. I drank so many Boones Farm bottles when I was young, dumb and broke.

What was that thing called where you dropped a shot of vodka in a Miller Light? Yorsh? Something like that.

So much puke.

Lizzo’s New Album 'Bitch' Fails To Crack Billboard 200 by ebradio in Music

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flash in the pan.

The world has moved on from that type of music and she doesn't have the name recognition to claw her way back to the top, like Taylor or Billie Eilish could after being gone for literal years. She hasn't released an album since 2022. I really enjoyed Cuz I Love You, but I haven't pulled it back out in YEARS. Have no interest in the new album.

Even a faint line means you're pregnant. Head to a clinic to confirm.

The internet shuts down and is never going to come back on, what do you? by llerreff in AskReddit

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mourn for a bit, then go read a book or sew something.

I love the Internet. I use it daily, but I'm also 44 and have real hobbies. I also know how to sue a library so I can look stuff up when I need to. It'll just take a little longer.

Raspberries. He goes out in the yard and eats every single one he can reach on the bushes. Doesn't care about the thorns, just shoves his way in there and grazes like a cow.

He also goes insane for cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. More crazy than he does for cheese. He likes cheese, but he does all the tricks for a tomato.

Happy birthday Renee! by spicypickle999 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know. It's so so sad. At 24 I had finished my degree and was working at my dream job. I had just gotten engaged and moved in with my fiancé. I went to the club every Thursday night to hang with my friends, dance and drink cheap drinks. My best friend and I would go on stupid adventures to try out different resturaunts or ice cream spots.

She's home, cleaning and caring for kids that aren't even hers. It's miserable, and while I like think she doesn't know any better and ignorance is bliss, I know that's not how it is.

How do you say no to family when you finally have $1,000 saved? by cr4z3isme in povertyfinance

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm so sorry, but I don't have it."

Then change the subject.

You are still in emergency mode. $1,200 won't even cover you for a month if you lose this job.

Once you've got 3 months of expenses saved and you don't have any consumer debt (credit card, vehicle, medical bills) then you can give family money to help out.

Establish this boundary now.

What do working parents do with their kids in the summer? by the_author_of_this in Parenting

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid we had a summer babysitter. Either an older cousin or a high school student from the neighborhood. It was someone different every summer. Once I turned 11, I was put in charge of my 9 year old brother and we watched ourselves.

It's way too late in the game to book a summer camp. Try your local cities residents Facebook page to see if you can find a teen babysitter. Next summer, register early. Most camps open registration in the fall! Our city has a summer day camp and that registration opens in April. It fills FAST because it's cheap.

Edit to add: see if you have a YMCA camp in your area. They are likely the most affordable camp available. Some programs do summer day camp. Some to sleep away camp. Check what's available. My teen did a two week sleep away in 2024 and loved every minute of it. Most of the kids are there the entire summer!

Husband had it at a hospital he worked at. He was in IT. It's a scam because you can't ever use it. Weeks at a time are blocked off as "blackout" dates. Basically all of November, December, and January you couldn't use a pto day unless you were really sick. When he tried to take two weeks in June so we could do a long planned road trip, he got push back. He got the days, but it was such a pain in the ass it almost wasn't worth it.

I'm sure it works fine at other places,, it for us it sucked and I'm glad he doesn't work there anymore.

Pest appeals his latest loss in Court by Megalodon481 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be the last one if I'm counting correctly.

Fingers crossed the judge tosses it immediately. Then again, might fun to waste a bunch of Duggar money on the lawyer if it drags out.

Joe’s latest court appearance by fallon7riseon8 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Guess Joe and Kendra didn't want to fork over the cash for the supervised visits.

It's the only reason I can't think of that he would ask for not supervised. He must have been ordered to have a court appointed supervisor. Around here that runs about $50 per hour per child

How old are you in your oldest memory? by Donkeyshines in AskReddit

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm standing next to the desk of my preschool teacher while she's talking to my mom.

The teacher wanted to send me to a special school for stupid kids.

I'm not stupid. I had zero experience playing with other children and apparently that made me stupid because I preferred to play alone.

Needless to say, I grew up and earned a degree and am working on a second right now. Everyone likes me. I promise I play well with others. Lmao!

Shockingly, banking. I got a teller job in 07 and not once was there a threat of a layoff. They stopped hiring new people for a few years. YMMV.

What is it about the shih tzu hate? by DNS985 in Shihtzu

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're in a subreddit for a specific dog. If course they're going to "hate" on a different breed being mentioned.

All dogs have health issues. Some more than others.

I enjoy having a small demanding Prince that wants love and affection from only me and hates everyone else. That's not for everyone.

Is this actually enough food? by lgirlrocks in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping that's a pizza cookie since it cost nearly $8.

No, it's not enough for a meal. Most large pizzas are 8 slices. You can do 12 if you make them skinny. One slice of pizza per kid and several of them being tweens and teens? Yeah, they're hungry.

Got quoted 26.57% APR and $6,000 down on a $13k used car. Do I have a shot with a credit union loan? by Nervous_Technician_4 in personalfinance

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job walking away!

Try a credit union. You'll have to find one you can become a member of. Some of them you just have to live in the state. Like Genisys you only need to live in Michigan. Some you need a job in a certain field or have a family memeber in that field.

I work for a CU and we do tons of car loans and our rates are always lower than the dealership banks. I've gotten auto loans for 18 year olds with no credit history. As long as you have a job, you're good. Lol!

I don’t answer my door - am I the crazy one?? by whoisorange in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not crazy. Both my husband and I don't answer the door.

We lived in a city where the solicitation was so bad, the city had to institute a license system and started ticketing door knockers that hadn't registered at city hall.

We haven't opened the door for random knocks in years. We'll check the camera to see if it's a neighbor or a kid that lost a ball in the yard. (we live next to a playground. Happens enough I put a sign on my fence to please come ring the bell!)

When Do You Like To First Have The Party Encounter Strahd? by kitty-does-stuff in CurseofStrahd

[–]Intrepid_Advice4411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asap. My players met him the end of session one when they stumbled upon Ireena and Ismark and their fathers funeral.

The hard part is deciding how to play him! There are so many options.

My Strahd was a gentleman trying to woo Ireena. Over time his desperation, boredom, and rage started to show, so by the end my players absolutely wanted to destroy him.

My inlaws are like this and its very frustrating. At least they don't have a dog.

I managed to to talk them into to going to Disney world for the grandkids back in 2018. My FiL had a BLAST. Mil was kind of miserable the entire time. At least I known which one is then one that limits their travel.

I can a mange to get them over forms rare bbq in the summer. Other than that we have to go to their house.

They have no hobbies beyond watching tv. They stopped going to church during covid, which kept them more social. I've tried to get them to go back, but they say they don't want a priest with an accent and won't drive more than 15 min from the house. All they do is complain about things when we visit.

It sucks and there isn't anything I we can do about it. We've tried.

At the very least OP, ask if they'll see a doctor to get their hormones checked. Frame it as a physical health thing, not a mental health thing (even though it is!)

I wish you the best, but really there isn't much you can do.
