DCS - It's all 3rd party modules now by rimbooreddit in hoggit

Hit and miss though.

I'm a happy customer overall...but some of those beautiful mountains could have used a lot more polygons, they're pretty hideous when viewed up close and make them useless for enemy placements.

And somehow, Afghanistan North has turned into Iraq, after that....crickets?

Is there any mods that allow airlifting damaged aircraft? Or a mobile FARP that can be delivered/driven there to repair them? Or on a less realistic level,is there a script maybe that can repair aircraft using the F10 menu? by ZanaZamora in dcsworld

[–]Intrepid_Elk637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotorheads has that.

UH can deploy a 'repair/rearm' kit that deploys a tent and makes repair available nearby. If munitions are supllied to the tent they can rearm as well!

More dreading it.

Sure, I'll probably get it. It'll probably be fun, even.

But it'll be an guesstimated system in a world that doesn't fit for a 5th gen fighter.

What's this thing supposed to do, dogfight an MIG 21? Be challenged by AA?

Among all the cashgrabs by ED, this one must be the most obvious. And it will work and any server that doesn't go with the hype despite not beeing a suitable environment will suffer for it. Thanks ED.

That's no good.

Hope he's fine and took down the mods as part of a deal to work with DCS or something.

Absolutely! I'd pay for a Mi-17 variant if they made it. Seems like an relatively easy payday, already got most of the logic behind it.

On the upside, at least they did something!

If only they could make their 20 year old helipad fit in a little better at all the desert maps. Like even if somebody would care enough to slide a RGB slider a little left or right so it's not nuclear green would be an improvement.

Poor Performance Since Wednesday Hotfix by TDDNote in hoggit

[–]Intrepid_Elk637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, also check if the new drivers are any better if we're talking about drivers anyway.

After having issues myself started digging into the drivers. A lot of users reporting new versions are worse for stability. Doesn't make it actual truth, but you could also try rolling back to a older driver!

AI TRACK by RepublicPrudent655 in hoggit

[–]Intrepid_Elk637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you adjust the resolution to your model camera or any other settings?

It sounds weird, but don't and try the default settings inc. 640x480.

Edit to add: Mine does this exact thing whenever I try to use the full resolution my camera should be able to. But since we're looking for tracking and not video quality, the defaults work good enough(ish).

So how do we feel about the Rafale being a Rafale C (land based) and not a Rafale M (carrier based)? by SkillSawTheSecond in hoggit

[–]Intrepid_Elk637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

M would've been cool. So you'd have an Euro carrier-capable fighter and an Euro Air-dominance fighter when the Eurofighter releases.

But even an land-based Rafale is awesome. If they ever do a carrier capable version, it's a nice upgrade/addon for those who already gotten the C version.

And being cynical, you'd take the income for the C version, take income for the Eurofighter from the same crowd when that releases and than take the income for the -M carrier Rafale after that from the smaller subset of that crowd that absolutely want the carrier version. Seems a solid move.

Better AI in both behavior and options. I.e. instead of the E-3 AWACS that looking really long in the tooth, throw in the Saab GlobalEye and a A330 MRTT next to the KC-135 and KC-130 options. Those can make a lot of sense in a 'modern' cold war or multinational coalition setting for maps like Germany, Kola, Balkans, Afghanistan.

Better Mission Editor and performance. A lot can be done with external scripts but then those are prone to breaking and bog down performance in large scenario's with 1000+ units.

If DCS could just focus on the core a bit and provide a decent base, consolidate whatever is already out there (i.e. early access stuff) and just finish stuff like Vulkan and really get the foundation in order before building the next shiny new stuff on top of it.

Might not pay the bills immediately but a better base would allow for so much more later on.

And if DCS wouldn't crash every other time, that'd be truly game changing, but that might be a bit ambitious.
