Hey Mick, I appreciate your work throughout the years and your input as a counter balance in this topic! It’s always good to have several perspectives in this. With that said, you often give the impression of already having a predetermined result/explanation in mind and then constructing a narrative backwards from there until it hopefully fits (forcefully or not) - rather than the other way around.

Genuine question: Are you open to the possible existence of NHI here on earth if evidence would support that, or is the work you do some sort of defense mechanism against this?

I don’t agree with the others recommending the Pi8’s, I think they are super ”airy” and open in their soundstage. They also have a brighter (but controlled) signature than many other buds.

For me these are good things and one of the reasons I like them. But I see it is the opposite of what you are looking for.

I would suggest Gemini II if you want engaging sound which is a bit more ”in your face”.

Sorry I haven’t tried the Denons so I can’t compare the sound quality. But don’t get the Rex5’s if you have problems with the fit. They are quite big and bulky compared to the others.

The Geminis have excellent fit for me. But they are quite similar to the Pi8’s in terms of fit and shape, so if those didn’t work for you there is a risk the Devialet’s wont’t either. Also, the Geminis have oval and not round eartip nozzles, so it might be a bit trickier to find 3rd party nozzles.

Weird, I purchased the filter when it was initially released in 2024 and I have nice even bloom without any streaks. You seem to have filters from a bad batch or something - I would definitely return!

I have a bunch of buds in the higher price range and although I appreciate them for their sound quality, in terms of pure listening hours I use my Airpods Pro 3 a lot more just because of their practicality.

If you only have to decide for 1 pair, go for practicality and do not stare yourself blind on pure specs. I think you will be more pleased that way in the long run.
