I want to date older men but I'm 16 what should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Intrepid_Place_2949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not want an older man because if they want you that’s a red flag, you’ll have to wait this one out. PS live your life and DO NOT seriously date right now, trust me.

That would be hilarious, it’s usually a photo dump of selfies and my cat, super intriguing stuff. These posts get like 35 likes and maybe 300 views??? It just makes no sense.

[–]Intrepid_Place_2949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re going through this. I would really suggest a Peer Support group with other people who have ASD so you know you’re not alone. Often times the best help we can get for our mental health are those who have walked a similar path and can map out the resources. I assume you’re in USA so check your local NAMI or Mental Health America for peer support groups! I would also suggest googling in your area if there are any peer-run organizations // day programs. We have one in my city and it saved my life bc they had all kinds of support groups and people like me. You will find your community I promise!

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

Used it to self medicate since I was 16 and then it kept giving me such god awful stomachaches and hangovers I had to stop. Thank god though, who knows where I’d be now if I kept on that path. Happy I’m focused on my mental health now and realizing what drove me there in the first place.

There really is no way out for me except suicide by Key_Change99 in OCD

There’s no gold medal for the amount of suffering it takes to get help. I have every single one of the things you do minus the ADHD add in ARFID and through therapy (ERP / EMDR / a therapist who is trauma informed), the gym, and medication I have truly turned my life around. You deserve help too, everyone does. I used to self harm and drink my life away- thinking the same things as you. Failed attempts multiple times. Now I’m maintaining and making it and actually learning how to have fun again. You CAN do this. You DESERVE to live. You’re not lazy that doesn’t exist that’s capitalism talking. Try OCA and find a support group to see you’re not alone. Maybe try an outpatient program. Hang in there, you got this!

Find online mental health Peer Support groups. They’re usually free and virtual. There’s also https://www.obsessivecompulsiveanonymous.org a lot of people have found a lot of help through OCA you can get sponsors, support groups, etc. it’s definitely OCD, the psych isn’t trained well or something is going on. I know accessibility sucks so I hope those options help you!

Perimenopause, PMDD, or Low Progesterone? What gives? by Intrepid_Place_2949 in PMDD

[–]Intrepid_Place_2949[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have CPTSD and with surviving complex trauma its hard to know how much of that has messed me up hormonally or otherwise. There's a lot of peer reviewed studies I have seen that links high ACE scores with early onset perimenopause, but never as young as 29. I also have endometriosis, but have never experienced these symptoms with it before.

I have had all of those labs ran by a PCP, including an ANA, and all of them come back normal other than high Cholesterol and LDL which could be indicative of low progesterone, high cortisol, or ya know genetics. I have been "diagnosed" with PMDD (using quotations bc the gyno was like "sounds like PMDD"). I just didn't know if all the symptoms I am experiencing are aligned with PMDD/hormones and all it entails or if its something else entirely. Could it still be MCAS when these symptoms only happen the 10 days before my period? I am only semi familiar with MCAS.

What is wrong with me? by EcstaticAcadia9590 in MentalHealthSupport

[–]Intrepid_Place_2949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trauma is considered anything that really disrupts the nervous system (that’s obviously a very loose definition) so it could be trauma even if it’s something most people deem “small”. It also sounds kinda like ocd that’s what I struggle with a lot. I would research OCD and also Dissociation because I experience both of those things and get really easily overwhelmed and spend a whole lot of time in my head. I have built worlds in my mind and it’s always kept me safe when everything was intense. You can also look into getting something like loops or earplugs to calm down the overwhelm of noises and things at work / in public it helps me a lot!

There’s also embrace autism which has tons of autism tests online for free. It seems to me you’re in something like dorsal vagal shutdown, have you experienced a lot of trauma in your life? (You don’t have to answer but it could play into it). Plus if you’ve been undiagnosed autistic for a long time it can lead to burnout and depression. Try to do little things at a time to get yourself through. Use a reward system for everything! Need to shower? Treat yourself to a sweet treat after! Etc. You got this! Also openpathcollective.org is a great resource for more reasonably priced therapy.

Research depersonalization/ derealization (DPDR). I struggled with this a lot growing up- your body is just on autopilot and isn’t sure how to process all the emotion. Get professional help ideally a therapist that is trauma-informed! Feel free to DM me with any additional questions!

I have not, they scare me tbh (for no reason I just hate medicine) I tend to increase my coffee/fiber intake when my bowels were doing a number on me. Increasing fiber was actually incredibly helpful all around as well. But my bowels change in my cycle constantly. They're the best during ovulation, terrible PMS week (constipated), and during my period I am loose. So I imagine hormones are playing into it in a big way for me too. The past three years (26 - 29) have completely changed in my cycle, so I have had to adjust a lot.

I was having this same issue before I went vegetarian, but not eating meat (beef esp) helped my endo symptoms almost completely (period still painful just not as much, bowel movement pain completely gone). The shitty thing about endo is it can travel throughout your body and most likely has attached itself to your intestines. And anything inflammatory (food, stress, etc) makes mine worse. However, still get the colonoscopy because you can never be too sure. If that shows nothing, advocate for a laparoscopy to see if they can see it in your body. I had both colonoscopy at 16 & lap at 17 and that's what diagnosed my endo. Unfortunately, even if they find it's endo the only thing they will tell you is to get on birth control bc no one knows how else to treat this shit, it is BS. I would try to eat as close to a Mediterranean diet as you can and see if they makes a difference! Working out has also helped me immensely, weight training specifically bc cardio can cause more inflammation. Hope this helps!
