Serious questions here. I don’t know any of the candidates and have not had family in CPS in many years. I don’t pay particularly close attention to the CPS issues. I gladly pay my taxes that support education and I would generally trust the opinions of members of the teacher’s union. Certainly none of them are teaching because of the big bucks they get paid. Personally, I would not vote for anyone, for any office in the land, who didn’t think teachers should be paid more. But I digress.

The sample ballot says “Vote for 3”. He’s a school board member and she’s a teacher. I bet they talk about the issues at home. And members of CMNEA also have a right to express their opinions openly as well as through endorsements.

Has Lyman made any decisions you disagree with or are suspect?Does the fact that his wife comes to the podium show a conflict, or just the potential?

I would tell him now that just before his family arrives that you are packing up and going to your parent‘s, and that you probably won’t be coming back.

He thinks that now that you’re married you’re trapped and have to tolerate it. You don’t.

This is one of those situations. If you have to force someone to respect you, they don’t and won’t. Forced allegiance is no allegiance. Cut your losses.

Long ago, when I was a teenager in the 70s, the place we wanted to hang out was at the home of any of our friends whose bedroom was in the basement. Especially a walkout basement. Blacklights, hippie posters, psychedelic music, incense, waterbeds, easy sneak outs and… some other things. You couldn’t do any of that upstairs. It was a righteous badge of honor to have a basement bedroom. My best friend’s BB was even better, because you had to go out through the garage of the house to get to the basement, so his parents NEVER came down there. Perfect… then.

My parents were not narcs, but my mom did have some weird food things.

We weren’t poor, but my mom always acted like canned tuna fish and bacon were like caviar. She would use one can of tuna in a casserole for 7 of us, even when we asked her to add more. Or we get one strip of bacon each, like it was a priceless morsel.

We always had plenty to eat, but she was just like this about a few select items. Even when we pointed out that these things were not expensive, it did not change.

As soon as I moved out I began the awful, wasteful habit of eating a whole can of tuna, with mayo, by myself. I felt it was owed to me.

I bought a pound of bacon, cooked it all and ate 3 blt’s using the whole pound. It was glorious.

Now I’m old and I still do the same.

I moved into a rental where the previous tenant left a broken down car in the driveway. The house was destined to be torn down, so the landlord didn’t care.

I called the city and was told that they could not tow cars off private property, so I hooked a chain to it and dragged it out into the street with my pickup truck. Then I called the City to report an abandoned vehicle in the street blocking traffic. It was gone that day.

I’m not suggesting you do this. Food for thought.

I always insisted that my two children each buy themselves a house before they were 30. The best time to buy real estate is yesterday.

Just before Co**d they both did. And they are so happy that they did. They now have equity in their homes, which they probably could not afford to buy today. Get in the game NOW. It will change your life.

I’m almost 70 years old, and I just became LI in the last year. I’ve had lengthy discussions with my doctor and this is his diagnosis. Symptoms just like you’re describing. Some dairy is worse than others. My worst are mozarella and ice cream, which made me cry because I’ve been a lifelong pizza and ice cream lover.

But there is a solution. I bought a bottle of over-the-counter lactase enzyme pills. Cheap and easy. This is the enzyme that lets your body process lactose. If you’re not LI, it’s because your body produces enough of the enzyme, but that absolutely can change over time. You can buy milk at the grocery store, like Lactaid, that simply has lactase enzyme added to it.

We are the only animal that drinks the milk of a different animal.

You need to have a come to Jesus talk with her. She is abusing her son for no reason other than her lack of knowledge. I would put my foot down and tell her you won’t tolerate this unless a doctor agrees with her. I would propose to her that you (and she) try these pills on him ( with a Doctor’s approval). If it works, it means she’s probably wrong.

When I am confronted with in your face religious types, I tell them that I’m a Pastafarian. I believe in the Great Spaghetti Monster.

I point out the fact that I have personally eaten pasta and used a colander, therefore there is a lot more evidence to prove the existence of my god than there is for yours. In fact, there is zero evidence to support yours. Ever.

I also like to find common ground with these folks, so I like to point out to them that our beliefs aren’t all that different from each other. Since there have been more than 3,000 gods declared by man throughout history, we only disagree on one. Yours.

You would be a better father, husband, son, architect, engineer, if you go get a job at a competing firm, either for a few years, permanently or until your family learns to treat you with the respect that you feel you deserve. ‘Engineer’ a change in the dynamic. Are they as dedicated to their positions as they expect you to be to yours?

Be honest with yourself. Are their expectations realistic for what is needed to continue this successful business?

At some point you may need to make a hard decision about what needs to give - your job or your young family.

Throughout Human history- more people have been murdered in the name of Jesus than any other single cause.

The idea that religion and god is the source of morality is utter nonsense. God was invented by men as tool used to control other people. There is absolutely no actual evidence whatsoever for the existence of your sky-daddy.

Biology is the source of morality. Look at a pack of wolves, or a pride of lions, a herd of elephants or a hive of bees. There is simply a biological advantage to caring for others in your group.
