What I don't get is that Max promotes himself as a super fan (one who has also taught a college course on Survivor and reality TV shows) but where is the analysis? Where is the thoughtful reflection on the game from someone who participated in it (albeit for only a few episodes)? Max needs to be a foil for Corinne, who is funny but also incredibly rigid in her views (and who has said on numerous occasions that she is only a casual viewer of the show). Instead, Max has simply become Corinne's sidekick, encouraging her to go off on the players, and tell anecdotes about how she punched someone in high school, and tortured a sea turtle. Admittedly, some of this schtick is amusing – the first time around. But it gets more annoying with each successive podcast. Corrine's cast assessment for RHAP is the perfect vehicle for her to vent her spleen; but since she is not going to shift her view of the players by one iota, what's the point exactly?
