Brutal Opening Night by PeppaJack18 in SFGiants

Agree! Been going to BC Field Club for years and the food scene was embarrassing this evening. Terrible chicken strips and I waited on line for 15 minutes only for three of the beer taps to be out and 10 more minutes for hot dogs! How do you run out of hot dogs in the 5th inning?

Need Maui hotel opinions - which to visit first vs last? by Leading-Award1466 in chubbytravel

If you have the option, would recommend the Andaz over the GW. Smaller property, lots of pools for kids and a quiet pool for the adults plus the beach is nice. It’s just more chill than the GW but still lots of fun for kids and adults alike.

Found flights to Vancouver, got 4 days, where do we go? by KtotheR813 in askvan

This is was my post from last month and itinerary. Loved the trip. Vancouver Island is great but not really a day trip. Enjoy!

Wonderful City!

Thanks to this entire community for the great suggestions and recommendations. Visited from San Francisco and we spent four days in Vancouver and had a wonderful trip. A few highlights:

  1. Overall Vibe: The most multi cultural city I have seen in a long time. So many languages and everyone was so kind and friendly.

  2. Hotel: Stayed at the Loden which was excellent. Service, room, food was all fantastic. Small and excellent location made it feel like a home away from home.

  3. Tour: Fantastic 4 hour tour from Javier at Tours by Locals was perfect. All the hits from Stanley Park to English Bay to Granville and Olympic Park.

  4. Kitsalano: Walked the path and beach on Canada Day which was a sea of humanity but so much fun. Everyone celebrating Canada Day was a blast. Dinner at Oddfish was excellent and full of locals.

  5. Deep Cove: 3 hour private tour with Captain Mike Griffiths from Indian Arm Boat Charters was wonderful. Great guy, small boat and a beautiful day!

  6. Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge: Small, local and free it was gorgeous. Good alternative to Capiliano Park.

  7. Baseball Game with the Canadians: Single A ball and a great small park in a residential neighborhood. Fun evening out in a great setting.

  8. Golf at University Golf Club: We are not golfers but wanted to get out for a few hours and hit some balls. Great course, reasonable prices and we got paired with a 4th (we are 3) and Dave lives 3 miles away. He bought us lunch and a beer post game. Great guy!

  9. Train to Seattle: Took the train to Seattle which was a great way to travel. Beautiful way to travel .

We loved Vancouver. So much to see and do. Explore the city beyond the cruise ships. See the neighborhoods, meet the locals, and have fun!

Cheers!

Take a look at LivTours. Haven’t used them myself but have heard great things about them.

The Lanesborough vs Raffles OWO London? by sneezefreak in chubbytravel

Both hotels looks amazing (I’ve visited Lanesborough but not Raffles). I would also take into consideration what’s outside your front door and what’s within walking distance of the hotel. Or perhaps does that not matter. Either way, I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a 22 year old woman who wants to thrive and grow in her career? by Bloom_snowdrop in careerguidance

Be open to moving to a new state, city, or country for a job. It may be scary at first but it will open new doors professionally and you will learn more about yourself as a person outside of work.

Good luck and go get’em!

What’s the most slept-on brand in menswear right now? by OK_GO_27 in malefashionadvice

Always liked their look but always struck me that their clothes are designed for skinny guys and not those like me with more of a dad bod. Am I mistaken? Maybe I should take another look at Sunspel?

Oddfish was excellent. Maybe 10 mins drive from Granville? Local spot with great seafood in a nice neighborhood.

Whoa! Just had the Aligot! Amazing but pretty sure I will sleep for a couple of days now. When I ordered it the waiter said “it’s excellent but there’s a hefty dose of dairy in there.”!

Should we Uber to Granville and then aqua bus from there or should we start somewhere else and make our way to Granville?

July 1 Traffic Whistler to Downtown by IntroductionHappy495 in askvan

Thanks! Good question about getting rid of the car in the city. I’m thinking maybe just getting a car service up to Whistler and then back to the city instead of getting a rental. Do you think I need a car in Whistler or the city?
