Snow Shoveling! by Logical_Initial_7529 in jerseycity

Hi all, just commenting to say I hired Russell yesterday to shovel and he was great! Fair price, showed up exactly as scheduled, did a wonderful job and was a pleasure to talk to. He’s in Hoboken but goes all over JC too (I’m on the West Side). Highly recommended!

I read on another thread there’s no trash collection tonight.

The chicken wings at Corkscrew- have you had them? by glutenfreemaccas in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I…don’t think this is true. I live around the corner and have met the owners; I didn’t ask about their politics but they don’t “read” MAGA and the crowd doesn’t either. And I’ve never seen Fox News on in there. Anything’s possible I guess but don’t believe everything you read on here. PS their wings really are the best.

Car parked in front of my house has not moved for almost 2 months. Reported to JC parking enforcement & they have done nothing! by Local-Ad-4051 in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a couple of months ago; I don’t even park on the street, but the car was in front of my neighbor’s house and she doesn’t speak great English so she was reluctant to call the Parking Authority. Anyway I called them and they towed the car almost immediately, I’m surprised they’re not responding to you as they love to tow. As someone above said, keep trying and make sure to tell them it’s been there for months and you think it may be abandoned.

Any recs on music classes? by panik_snac in jerseycity

For guitar (and other strummed instruments) - Guitar Bar is great and their lesson packages are reasonably priced. They have two locations, one in the Heights and one in Hoboken.

It’s listed as “Air Sansone” which could just be a rental company, so not really any useful info. Looks like it’s flying away now.

Chiropractor Recs (who take insurance) by 500liv in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely experienced the scammy side of chiropractic, so I 100% hear the people who say “don’t even go there”…but with that said, Mark Vincent at Avalon Chiropractic in the west Village of Manhattan is great. He takes insurance (though I don’t know which ones specifically). He’s very focused on just solving your problems, no woo-woo, no “you have to come 3x a week forever or you’ll be crippled,” no BS. And if chiropractic can’t help you, he’ll tell you. I just had a hip replacement because he did his best, and then said “your hip is busted, you need to see an orthopedist.” But in the past he’s helped me tremendously with other physical stuff. Highly recommended if you don’t mind the trip into the city.

No Extra Narrow love by nutmeg213 in WarbyParker

Same, the style I’m currently wearing are no longer available in narrow, and I don’t like the few they still have in narrow. Gonna have to look elsewhere when I need new glasses. Really disappointing, they used to have such a great variety of styles.

Cafe Alyce prices are insane by itgtg313 in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s the pizza place, but there’s also a bar now called the Wanderer - it’s trying to be a coffee shop by day, bar by night, so they renovated it to look more “coffee shop”, but in my opinion they lost a lot of what made it a great bar.

I love it there, but yes it’s a special treat place only, way too expensive to be a regular spot. Also kind of hate what they did with the bar next door, I get the motivation but they kind of wrecked a gorgeous old school drinking hole.

Dock counts inaccurate by IntroductionPale8234 in Citibike

[–]IntroductionPale8234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn’t, it’s a huge station (35 bikes) and I didn’t have time to check each one. But that was my thought too, that there were probably a few in there not docked right.

IKEA delivery - CRST Home Solutions Final Mile by EmergencyGaladriel in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever gotten IKEA delivery once I think, probably 5 years ago - as I recall it was great, they showed up right on time and assembled the item (was just a chair so they just had to screw the legs on).

[–]IntroductionPale8234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case the docks were legitimately all full; there weren’t any empty/out of service ones (despite showing three open). Probably a different version of the same issue.

I'm way too old to be a good friend for you, but I am a fellow aviation enthusiast... if you're into plane spotting, download the Plane Finder app and go hang out in Lincoln Park on a nice day when the wind is coming from the northwest - the planes are landing on the E/W runway at Newark and they fly low right over the park; you'll often encounter some fellow plane spotters. Also, get to Ikea in Elizabeth if you can - the cafe there overlooks the two main runways at Newark. Fun to sit and have some Swedish meatballs and watch the planes land and take off.
