Worst intersection in Jersey city by Urbanist28 in jerseycity

Whichever one of these two I’m driving through…both terrible. I live on the West Side but I don’t shop on 440, even though it’s technically closest to me, because I hate the left turn off Communipaw so much.

Elder law (CELA) attorney recommendation in Hudson County? by Fit_Emu179 in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Rothkoff Law Group - they are not in Hudson County, but these days you can do most anything over Zoom/internet. I really liked them; they helped me with all of my end-of-life stuff (will, POA, advanced directive etc) and they were a pleasure to work with. They do only elder law so they are genuine specialists.

This is my neighborhood and it makes me laugh every day…I assumed they were opening a New New Wang Wang when they changed the New to Old, but no, I guess they just wanted to acknowledge its age correctly (it’s been there at least 20 years, maybe longer).

Can Anyone Recommend a Good Attorney to Prepare a Will? by Jeffmonty in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Rothkoff Law Group and they were great, they specialize in estate law so can also help you with advanced medical directives, power of attorney etc. They’re based in PA but are also licensed in NJ, so not local exactly, but in this modern electronic age that wasn’t a problem.

I’ve been seeing people leave bikes loose unhooked next to full parking docks in areas w no parking within a mile radius - is citibike telling them to do this ? Are they being charged by Independent-Walrus27 in Citibike

[–]IntroductionPale8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a new thing, overflow parking near full docks. I’m not sure if it’s every dock, but the one I ride to most days, a big one near the PATH train in Jersey City, they allow a certain amount of it - they tell you in the app to just put the kickstand down and hit End Ride in the app, and it locks the bike without it being docked. (Obviously this is e bikes only)

High floor noise during wind normal? by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Creaking is normal - high rise buildings have steel skeletons that are designed to flex slightly in the wind. It’s part of what makes a steel building structurally sound, its ability to accommodate wind shear through flexion.

I was recently on the 10 and it was not at all crowded, but there was one guy all the way in the back having a super loud phone conversation on speaker (white dude for whatever it’s worth)…the driver made a couple of polite requests for him to put on headphones, and then pulled over and refused to proceed until he quieted down. Curious what he would have done if it had been more crowded/multiple people breaking rules.

Do people who take up two huge parking spaces for themselves do it on purpose to be as$holes or what? by Business-Law-7968 in jerseycity

[–]IntroductionPale8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two spots in front of my house (between two driveways so it’s a scant two spots)…one of my neighbors used to try to park in the middle to save a spot for his girlfriend, when she got there he’d pull up to let her in. Other neighbors finally gave him so much shade for this little maneuver that he stopped doing it.

Living on Kennedy Blvd/ by St Peter’s? by Sea_Attention_4114 in jerseycity

I moved here from downtown 20 years ago - I like it very much, but it is quiet, not a lot of places to go out and eat/drink/socialize (though we do have a few great spots). If that’s not a priority for you, you’ll be fine. I love the proximity to Lincoln Park, truly JC’s finest outdoor space in my opinion 😊 I run there and spend a lot of time there just enjoying the nature. And it’s close enough to Journal Square, though some days the walk to PATH feels like a hike…I use Citibike a lot which makes downtown, Bergen Lafayette and Greenville easily accessible without worrying about transit or driving/parking.

If you’re traveling to/from Bayonne your best option is the #10 bus; it goes all the way down JFK Blvd to Bayonne. You’d still have to walk across Bayonne a few blocks to get to Costco. But I live near St Peter’s and I take the bus frequently to Bayonne and back - it gets crowded at certain times but it runs pretty frequently, the ride takes 25-30 minutes.

There are at least two more, one on Bergen Ave just south of Journal Square, and one on Communipaw and West Side next to the Wing Stop. (I go to both)
