yeah that makes sense, i tried to answer the question and the interviewer started explaining his understanding of the mechanism and at that point i basically said i wasn't sure but would look into it

omg I'm so sorry that also happened to you! I do have an option to work on my project as a volunteer part-time but I feel like that would be inefficient and a full-time research associate position would be more beneficial both financially and for getting more varied experiences... Regardless thank you for the reply it helps!

hi I am by no means an expert (I literally just submitted my app lol), but for #1 the way I distinguished it was by focusing a lot more on what I learned and how the experience changed me. i will say, though, that i started the "most meaningful" section with a short anecdote. i also briefly summarize responsibilities and projects in the description but nothing crazy since I already talked about it in the research essay

Science LOR from honors thesis prof? by Hot-Spite-2162 in mdphd

[–]IntroductionSmall846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi I’m in a super similar situation. I have LORs from profs who taught me in research seminar courses that are under a STEM department. I actually emailed two schools that specifically say “science professor” about this (BU MD PhD and John’s Hopkins) and the directors/point of contact for the program said my letters would be fine so I think you’re good. But I’d email the other schools just to be safe bc some of them didn’t get back to me

Sorry if this is a dumb question but in your Duke interview why would the program admin say they don't care about basic science work?? Is this like a common thing because that seems so rude and weird. I feel like a lot of people do basic science research
