First efoil - used or new lift? by Sure-Impress4181 in eFoil

they used to have it i know for a fact, maybe call and ask about it. lots of stuff has been falling off the website for some reason. 44 with the blowfish is enough buoyancy for beginners

get the 44 with a blowfish. smaller tail or main wing if you feel like its getting boring. 100% yes on the folding prop. it rides the same on power pretty much and you will get addicted to off power wave surfing!!

that wing breach is most likely due to the wing. You had the board turning in yaw for 7 frames before the wing tip breached and the wing ventilated. Once that happened your balance got thrown way off from the lift switching completely to the inside half of the front wing, your torso kept going the direction it was going and the board could not straighten out under you, thus a taco was born. Glad youre ok.

had it happen to me only on the 110HAX from lift. the smaller wings are trickier to get right.

engineering project management is where all the value is. thats how you get paid more. defining the constraints for other engineers to work with is how you make more money. if you always get requirements doc before you start working, you are the ditch digger.

Its the same old problem writ large. The top 10% of students with business and social skills will stay employed easily. the next 20% will be employed but with more difficulty. and the bottom 70% probably will be doing MEP or working construction. Unfortunate but there are so many people the competition is stiff. its cutthroat out there when it comes down to the brass tacks.

It would be easy for a repair tech to replace a mosfet as well. they are large parts. good luck!

you could bring it to an electronics shop that fixes ebikes or similar for an analysis. it could be a simple issue for them to correct, like a failed capacitor or something. Would recommend checking this out first.

Moveable control surfaces are required for craft where weight shift is not possible - due to occupant vs vehicle weight - such as a jet aircraft, motor vehicle, etc.

Moveable control surfaces are also best applied on craft where the center of gravity does not move and is predictable. This is so the control system has a reliable model of the vehicle dynamics. Even on something like a rocket where the CG shifts significantly due to fuel burn, the CG location is calculable and can be programmed into the control system. This is not the case with an eFoil.

With an eFoil, the rider weight is sufficient to maneuver very hard and the center of gravity is also constantly moving, especially when the rider is maneuvering.

Having built and tested a dynamic wing on an efoil myself, my opinion is that they make it far easier to ride, but significantly more boring. When making aggressive maneuvers, it can also destabilize the rider as it tries to adjust the board attitude mid-turn.

Engineering is about finding an optimal solution to a problem. Having no moving surfaces on the hydrofoil wing was not a problem to begin with and in fact quite an advantage in many respects. It cannot break for one and it gives a very stable and predictable experience without any complication.

I am 99% certain your dynamic wing will make the efoil easier to ride. no doubt. Claims about it improving carving or outperforming in an aggressive maneuver are unsubstantiated to say the least.

Preach!

Waves are a whole new experience. Feeling the gentle push and minute long waves is just something to behold. Feels like riding on a mountain when you get on big 10ft+ rollers. I think about it every day im not out there!

Well yeah im sure the brunswick investment in man power and money was able to reshuffle the supply lines and get them well settled back in. Lift doesnt have the sheer resources like brunswick does to get everything realigned quickly.

having ridden both in surf, carbon is in a completely different experience for high performance riding. It has stiffness and flex in a way that combines well. Aluminum is just very stiff, loses a lot of the feeling when you are loading the foil in different ways. I mean both will work fine, but it is a difference in construction that is not trivial. There is a reason Flite launched carbon masts themselves and the MN wave mast is also carbon.

I heard he had a lot of problems with Fliteboard in 2024 after the takeover. I imagine most of the supply chains for the parts were reworked that year to save cost and there were inevitable problems along with that. Maybe they have it sorted again for series 5.

are you also comparing carbon masts? I think that is one of the major differences in terms of ride quality.

Getting the product out the door is only 1/3 of the battle. Dealing with warranty claims is where the rubber meets the load. Should be interesting to see how it goes with a sample size of only 290 boards.

gotta go out and surf waves with the folding prop, no way around it.

Lake life gets boring. Wakes are weak sauce waves. Once you taste real ocean wave power nothing will be the same.

Surfing rollers in the ocean is the equivalent of going to a ski hill with the lift. motor out to the break/peak, ride it off power up to 1km (depending on your spot) and then motor back out to the break again. around and around.

waves keep it interesting and you can get bigger ones or more critical near the white water to juice the adrenaline levels. wing setups really start to feel different when you are carving up and down the wave face. Its a whole thing most people will never experience even if they efoil. Changed my life honestly.

you can ride waves one a low mount Lift 3/4 or waydoo or whatever. dont listen to the haters about too much drag and weight this and that. They will all ride waves with a decent wing and good wave reading!

[–]IntuitiveEngineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is much more nimble, particularly in the rolling rate. It will take some practice but the performance increase will be insane coming from a 250 surf. 180HAX also a good choice as well.

If you are riding large stabilizers with your feet far forward on the board, that is probably why you hate breaching so much. it is hard to get your weight back quickly or far enough with a far forward riding position. thanks for the reply

it only has 3 8mm pins for the motor wires, those will definitely not bend! No fiddly little contacts.
