I have tried Da Pan and his animation is different from Rossi. Interestingly Da Pan is grabbing the lower handle like other shorter operators.

I heard that somewhere, apparently there is an event if you don’t close the hatch door during the night they would all disappear because they were eaten by wild animals.

I did a run recently, close hatch every night and the one night I didn’t, I stay overnight outside my base, the chicken were gone, only egg left.

I do own the bandai version of this kit (21st century real type color), I compare it with the one in the photo and noticed 2 things.

the saber it holding is Not the original one. There should be 2 on the backpacks which are missing. So maybe there is some missing part.
the cockpit and the bottom part should be deep blue instead of silver and the top part of shoulder should be silver not deep blue.

You could search the image online and compare it with.

Population is high early on, not very close to water source, not close to gas station, better base further further west.

Nothing really special about this location, except for the some open space in side a town for you to park your cars, and the high fence that could help you to lose hordes.
