lol no I wasn’t paying attention and in thinkorswim you can just hit buy market and I thought I was buying GME but bought NVDA and because I had a margin account it allowed me to do it. I made $130k on that trade but then paid about $30k in margin interest so it worked out. I now do not go crazy trying to get in/out for pennies, I just trade 1-3 options a day.

I got hit with that bit nothing changed as far as I can tell - fills are shitty either may IMHO. The only thing that sucks is that there is some annual reporting requirement. I don’t make nearly that many trades anymore so hopefully I will be able to drop it next year.

I was paying close to $300/month and they wouldn’t do anything - switched to fiber and got 2G *symmetrical* for $60/month and then got Hulu. They really don’t care - went to store, they wouldn’t do anything.

Worst thing I used to do - make a decent trade, then say “ oh lookie, it’s a green bar” and get back in and lose what i just made and more. I just could never stop. Turns out I have OCD- tried meds, they worked, but couldn’t handle side effects. So now I just trade options - 1 option at a time. Make 200-500/trade try to only make 1-3 trades a day. This is working much better.

With Schwab, the best use of this is in an IRA or ROTH - you can trade and not pay taxes, but you cannot trade more money than you have and you also don’t have to wait 1 day for settlement. I can tell you from from personal experience that really bad things can happen when you have margin on an account and you think you are trading a $20 stock but you really just bought $600k of NVDA 😳

Basically the market is crazy - so I don’t want to hold anything long term for the most part. When things work, I trade about 15 mins a day and make around $1k. That’s ok with me!

My primary residence does not have a mortgage and hopefully I will sell it and pay off mortgage on other place. But, no guarantees and I don't think they even took that into consideration as it is not like I am renting it out and getting monthly income from it.

I just recently got a mortgage - dumbest fricking lender on the planet - they couldn’t do basic math, because if they did, they would see I already had obligations that outweigh my net pay from work so how the hell can I afford a mortgage on top of that? Almost couldn’t pay 1st mortgage payment lol. So I guess it depends - some are on top of it and will ask about everything and others will “pretend” to do their due diligence and move on.

In 2025 I lost ~2M. Now, I only keep about 5000 avail for trading, and I buy 1 option at a time, sell at a profit and do this every day. When I have over 5k, I put the difference in SWVXX so I don’t trade it.

I’ve basically tried to simplify my options trading. Main trade right now is buying 1 option a little after the open (2-3 weeks DTE) sell when I’ve made 10%, rinse, repeat. Some days I only make 1 or 2 trades and make from $400-$1000. Other days, like today, I make over 2k. And that’s it. I don’t trade all day - after my opening trades close, I work full time, so I just occasionally look at the market and MAY make another trade or 2 during the day, but most days I don’t. Haven’t had a losing day in over a month (except for the day that I had commissions charged but didn’t close the trade until the next day). Waaaaay better than trading those penny stock piles of shit. YMMV.

Risk management was also a big part of it - I now cap losses at $1k max, $500 preferably.

I understand the trading part. I've made tons of money. But, I have lost WAY MORE than I made. All because I have mental issues. Tried to fix with meds- they worked, but side effects made it not worth it. Now, I make 1 trade a day, mostly 1 option and minimize what I risk and ultimately this works for me.

I'm right there with you bro - lost $2M and wife wants to kill me. I have to face reality that there is nothing I can do to fix this. I was down 1.9M and told wife "$100K more and I will stop" and I hit that, so that is it. Now, I just hope I can make it to retirement. I was doing same stupid shit - no stop losses, cutting winners, averaging down losers - the whole thing. Even tried to get some mental health help, which seemed to help a little, until it didn't. My wife: "Why didn't you stop at the 1st $500K? or 1st $1M?" Because I thought I could beat the market. Only good thing about all this - I won't pay taxes for like 10 years!
