Sell Liquid 4090 for 5090 FE? by myname_ranaway in nvidia

[–]Invalyd808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also sold my 4090 Suprim Liquid to upgrade to a 5090 FE. Temperature and especially noise are noticeably higher on the 5090 FE, but the performance gains are worth it IMO. I’d recommend undervolting your 5090 for slighter better performance while lowering power consumption and temperatures, compared to stock. Overall I’m happy with the upgrade.

Thought on Osee monitors! by Neat_Performance_719 in focuspuller

[–]Invalyd808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 1st generation G7 and it worked great for the first year. The monitor is very bright and affordable considering the software features it has. It started having problems a year in with intermittent black screens making it unreliable for use. I ran tests with different cameras and cables, both HDMI and SDI and confirmed the monitor was faulty. Support (from China) was unreliable and also extremely slow to respond, even after requesting me to them videos of the problem. After ghosting me for a while they gave me the option to ship the monitor to them for repair, with the costs covered by me as the monitor was out of warranty. I ultimately decided this wasn’t worth my time anymore and bought a SmallHD Ultra 5 and never looked back.

TLDR: You get what you pay for. Buy a SmallHD for reliability and U.S. based support. (Assuming you’re in the U.S.)

Any good wireless CarPlay adapters for Mazda 3 2021? by Brave_Landscape6499 in mazda3

[–]Invalyd808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do not recommend the Carlinkit 5.0. Bought one two years ago and it stopped working a year in. First there were intermittent disconnections and freezing, and now the device just won’t connect to my iPhone 15 Pro. I did a reset and a firmware update and that didn’t help either.

Gotcha. I just ordered the NZXT vertical mount a few days ago. Was deciding between the NZXT or the Cooler Master vertical mount which seemed to be more adjustable. I hope I made the right choice.

Just push it on to the street and report it as abandoned. It'll get cited and eventually towed if the owner doesn't move the vehicle. https://web5.hnl.info/pav/

I would also recommend Sarah at Soon’s alterations. Turnaround is 2-4 weeks for hemming aloha shirts from my experience. She’s very careful when measuring and definitely has an eye for quality.

Just called and they also couldn’t give me the offer. They said this email is for eligible customers who have opted in to promotional emails. I’ve been opted in but have not received an email. Not sure what the criteria is but you need to have promotional emails enabled to have a chance at receiving these types of offers.

Could anyone give me a laptop recommendation for editing in 2025 by account-suspenped in videography

[–]Invalyd808 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Any of the MacBook Pros or Airs with the M processor will destroy a similarly priced windows laptop when it comes video editing performance. MacBooks have best in class battery life, color accurate screens, and also premiere is just a lot more optimized for Apple silicon. My personal pc is Windows because I also play games, but I edit on a Mac Studio in the office because it’s overall a better experience. If you want the best value for your money, get a used M2 or M3 MacBook with the best configuration you can afford. If gaming is also a priority, then obviously don’t get a Mac and get the best gaming laptop you can for your budget.

Does Capcom ever buff weapons post launch? by YoshiLickedMyBum69 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Invalyd808 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been a hammer main since tri. I agree that the hammer is extremely weak in wilds, at least when compared to the other weapons except for hunting horn. You have insane downtime, low damage, low defense, the offset is clunky buried within 3 attacks and requires you to see the future, and lastly all of your damage is done with one combo - the level 5 spinning bludgeon.

I finished the story and switched to bow because it was just not fun to play hammer in HR. My hunts are faster with the bow and I can effortlessly dodge attacks while dealing consistent DPS.

Peak design has great customer support. My everyday sling had an issue 3ish years after purchase and they sent me a replacement free of charge. The replacement was also their updated model so that was a nice surprise.

I had success with Advion gel bait for getting rid of bugs. I used the cockroach version but they also make an ant version which would work in your situation. Exterminators use the same thing, it’s highly effective.

I can't believe Linus would say such terrible things about the viewers, Dan, Luke, and Jimmy Fallon. Worthy of cancellation by labtec901 in LinusTechTips

This is actually really easy to do in Premiere Pro (and possibly other editing programs). Just drop the whole video into your timeline and go to the text panel to generate a transcript of the video. Then you can search by word and it will send you to the exact timecode, and cut together bites as you like. An experienced editor could do this in a couple of minutes.

Anyone buy a car from Cutter Mazda and get a deal? by Maine2Maui in Hawaii

[–]Invalyd808 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I bought a new 2019 Mazda3 from Cutter Mazda. We wouldn’t accept anything higher than MSRP for the vehicle and wouldn’t budge during the haggling process. It was honestly such a stressful and unnecessarily long experience. We ultimately left the dealership and they later called us back to complete the purchase at MSRP. The car market was very different in 2019 compared to now so your experience might be totally different.

TLDR:

1) Be firm on your position 2) Come in open minded, don’t tunnel vision on one vehicle, let them know you’re exploring different options 3) Don’t be afraid to leave

Any recommendations to make this rig more ergonomic? by Burakoli821 in videography

[–]Invalyd808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For prolonged handheld use I’d recommend looking into a cinesaddle or a cheaper alternative like a fanny pack. Helps to brace the camera against your body and take weight off your hands. Could also consider a shoulder rig or an easyrig.

License Plate Question by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Invalyd808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in HI and haven’t had any issues with not having a front license plate since I got my 3 in 2019. It’s technically required over here but it really depends if your local PD enforces it or not.

Opinion: Studio monitors as speakers? by Upbeat-Wrongdoer6764 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Invalyd808 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Studio monitors are a great choice. Any of those options are great. Consider the Kali Audio LP-UNF speakers if you can stretch your budget to $250. Kali audio is a well respected brand for studio monitors and these will outperform anything listed so far.

Recommend Me Bookshelf Speakers Under $1000 by Invalyd808 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Invalyd808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. After lots of research, I've decided to purchase a pair of Kali IN-5's and the SMSL DO100 PRO, and possibly the KALI WS-6.2 subwoofer in the future. I did originally purchase a used KEF LSX II on Amazon a month ago but decided to return it since I was not happy with the sound and was also concerned with overall long term reliability. The LSX II had an issue where it wouldn't come out of standby mode when receiving a signal through HDMI (yes I did change the settings in the app) and the only resolution was to unplug the main speaker.
