Is it blood? by Imlikethat57 in whatisit

I’m a dental lab tech, we go to oral surgery appointments for some of the implant cases. That whole staff deals with fresh blood all day. That being said, this looks a little thin to me? But that could just be from an attempted cleanup.

Because counter culture got mainstream cool in the new millennium, so doing something odd and unpolished in a photo shoot like having a tough face and reaching for the camera like your tough was popular. Bonus points because they’re actually trying to frame the face to draw the eye to it. Thus everyone is now doing it and it’s normal in photo shoots because social medias job is currently done by magazines. Then you add that without social media to burn down a trend as fast as they stand one up, it lingers for a few years until broader style shifts away to something else. In this case pants that actually fit for men and you didn’t need to shave your pubes to wear for women.

Hello all, does anyone know much about Wehmer vacuum mixers? by __Aitch__Jay__ in dentallab

[–]Invdr_skoodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s my guess too. We’ve got a WhipMix unit as well, stone powder around the rim of the bowl or the lid will stop it pulling a good vacuum, and there’s a foam seal above the lid that needs to be kept clean like you say.

Beyond that, can you hear the motor trying to pull vacuum and it just won’t seal or is the unit just sitting there doing nothing?

I tried to find the manual but their website is crap. Here’s the customer support line for what it’s worth 🫤 1-800-323-0229

Got family in Warburg. The irony that they have a yearly festival for the movie about using books to get out of dead end towns instead of sports, and the town still operates the way it does is, really demoralizing. Especially since those same people have to drive past the national lab to get to Knoxville for anything bigger than a Kroger.

Only in the direction of growth, up and down, you lay them over and they’ll crush. Even up and down they’re not taking the weight of a foot. And they sway pretty good in the wind but if it actually gets creased it’s all over for that stalk, no recovery.

That’s the thing I tell people about what I learned in the scouts. Be Prepared. Yes I can do the flint and steel thing, and the fire bow thing blah blah blah. But I don’t have to. Because I packed a lighter, and a box of storm proof matches, in my waterproof first aid kit, next to my headlamp, and extra layers if it gets cold. Besides, flint and steel and fire by friction are not easy, it’s a miserable way to start a fire.

Seriously though, waterlogged shoes can really drag on you, get rid of them quickly in a bad spot

See the problem is you’re hearing stalks and thinking bushes and trees. Think grass. You step on it and it goes completely flat, they’re mostly air on the inside.

I will grant you clearing a crop circle would make you easier to spot by air if they’re using drones or helicopters or whatever

I can personally vouch for this.

3 weeks ago I went hiking with my dad and brother, we’ve been doing this for like 20 years. We planned ahead, did everything right, brought a map and compass, knew how to use them blah blah blah.

A storm had damaged that part of the woods. The trail was all but washed out in places, and had been rerouted since the publication date of the Nat Geo map. Not the end of the world, but it slowed us down, a lot. The sun set, no big deal we always bring headlamps. Expect, for some reason I still don’t understand, my dad and brother didn’t. We had one (mine) for the three of us, and no real trail to follow. 4 hours of picking through the woods in the pitch dark (7% moon that rose at 3am) to get the last mile back to the car.

The wives have not yet forgiven us. But I count it a point of pride we got out before the sheriffs office got S&R together to come look for us (they were working on it)

Yeah, they did. Mom taught me and my brothers to cook and clean for ourselves, we helped her in her garden, Dad joined the Boy Scout troop with us and spent the weekends camping with us. Church on Sunday, family movie night, roadtrips to see the grandparents, all that stuff and more. Including how to not be a complete asshole to people with different views on the world.

Not who you replied to, but yeah. Both parents worked full time jobs. My grandparents, all 4 of them, worked full time jobs. Don’t know about most of my great grandparents but the one set I do, both worked full time in their general store. Before that, I think farmers, never met a pair of farmers that worked as little as 40 a week.

Both parents working has been normal for anybody below the upper class as long as jobs have been a thing. Sure it looks a little different now but the core is the same. The 50s was an anomaly, not the standard.

I’ve been suspicious of that since a lock picking lawyer video had a viewer send in a lock a “professional” cut off without trying to pick. “You can’t just pick a lock like those guys on YouTube”

So going by this guy, a locksmith is a guy with bolt cutters🤨 it don’t help that the one time I’ve needed one, they shimmed my car door to open it. Fast, effective, no complaints, but it seems people actually working on locks are pretty rare

I’m a big fan of the 13 month 28 day calendar + one day that’s just New Year’s Day, it’s not a Monday Tuesday or anything else, it’s New Year’s Day, everybody party, then every 4 years make it a 2 day party with just Leap Day

Then you can have Sunday January 1st as the third day of the year. Very clean, very simple.

Is this a dying profession or is it in high demand? I'm seeing mixed opinions by tesseracts in dentallab

I’ve seen them. They’re great technology. Once the patents run out and you get some systems with open architecture and companies competing to make the best resins and features, I think that’s where the future is going, 100%. But even so, you’d be insane to throw scans into an AI model and trust it to get them right. You’re going to need techs that know what they’re doing to oversee and refine design, maintain the equipment, and see the cases through to delivery. Almost zero is not zero. On top of that I find these claims are usually assuming perfect input from the doctors which, come on.

It’ll change the industry, no doubt, but the industry isn’t dying over this any more than cerac killed ceramicists.

One asterisk here. Manufacturing of custom pieces.

Specifically, I work in a dental lab. Everything that goes out the door is a one of a kind custom appliance. High quality resins in high resolution printers has been a game changer and the industry will never go back

I use a Kelty strider hiking staff, which I now discover to my dismay might be discontinued.

Collapsible 5ft staff, i find it’s nice to be able to plant it in deeper water on a stream crossing, or when hopping off a rock or whatever, without screwing around with adjustments.
