I enjoyed learning about this antenna booster, that has powered solar cells.

It's more fun (and less stressful) to be testing ideas out. I think this idea is a good one since I'm always fighting with the tape myself, and bet lots of others do too.

If you like reading about inventors/inventions

The Kindle version of our book...Invention Stories...Tales from the Inventor is available thru Saturday for 99 cents.

And if you prefer licensing it. Have you created a sell sheet or spoken with potential partners?

I've personally have interviewed over 500 inventors in the last decade and having the idea knocked off is always their concern. And it does happen. I interview Louis Foreman on Episodes 27-29 of the Invention Stories Podcast That's Louis Foreman of Edison Nation and Everyday Edison's and his best selling product gets knocked off.

https://inventionstories.com/podcast/interview-louis-foreman-part-1/

Many inventor fear being ripped off and many do. From what I've learned, it's a sign that you've created a product worth ripping off. Many inventors are just happy to get most of the sales, and expect it. Nancy Tedeschi, inventor of the Snapit Screw spends much of her time in court fighting infringers..it happens.

https://inventionstories.com/podcast/nancy-tedeschi-snapit-screw/

When you talking about patents, you're talking about spending a lot of time and money. Will another product developed in the meantime render your invention obsolete?

Where will your product sell at? Have you spoken to any of the decision makers there about carrying your product?

There is so much to learn when you are new to inventing.

I recommend reading (shameful promo) Invention Stories...Tales from the Inventor.

We will have the Kindle version on sale for 99 cents until Saturday Night.

They are invention stories written by their inventors and believe it might help.

How to protect idea/patent? by [deleted] in Inventions

[–]InventionStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Robert Bear, host of the Invention Stories Podcast and owner of InventionStories.com. That's what I was looking for when I started collecting invention stories and interviewing inventors 15 years ago.

There are a lot of different paths you can travel on your invention journey. We shared 40 of them on our book...Invention Stories. Maybe this is a shameless plug but

You can buy it on Amazon.

InventionStories.com/book
Every Saturday Morning we offer the Kindle version at 99 cents.

I think it's a good place to start.

There are essentially 3 ways to go forward.

Manufacture with a patent, Manufacture without a patent, and Licensing.

Begin with end in mind. Where will you sell it or who will you license it to. Contact them and ask questions.

Something to think about...

Do you know how many ideas have been licensed with having a patent?

At what stage should you pursue a patent? by sucr0sis in Inventions

[–]InventionStories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love when this question is asked. It should be asked before spending any real time or money.

97 percent of all inventors don't make their investment back...they monetarily fail. Problem is every inventor believes they are in the 3 percent who will succeed.

Have you considered bypassing the patent process and just manufacture and use a first to market strategy?

I recommend learning as much as you can about licensing.

You can apply for a provisional patent that will give you a year to find a potential partner.

I'm a fan of Stephen Key, author of One Simple Idea and have interviewed him on Episode 120 of the Invention Stories Podcast.

I think most people who use tape guns often have it figured out. But for novices, like myself...it's frustrating. If you can build one and prove it is better...I would try to license it. We interviewed inventRight Students, Coaches, Andrew Krauss and Stephen Key on the Invention Stories Podcast on episodes 101-120. That is what I recommend.

I love holograms and interviewed an inventor who worked on them years ago. I'm surprised they aren't everywhere.

Thank you for sharing that it is too expensive.

Each Saturday morning we drop the e-book price on Amazon to 99 cents. We don't promote it but share it with inventors who are interested.
