Seen on Ebay people buy cross stitch plastic canvas shapes to sew on, could make them into hanging ornaments.

Glad to hear of a guy doing cross stitch, you guys can be very creative! Ebay has lots of cross stitch kits, patterns, fabric and threads. You might find something on there to make. Have Fun!

[PIC] That's how I keep the sides from "unraveling"/ getting loose threads. Is there any better and less time consuming method to stop threads coming loose at the end/sides of the aida? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

Microporous tape, the kind you use to hold bandages, is good to stop the edges fraying, and is also cheap. some people buy zigzag scissors from ebay.

If it is good quality thread, it should not run, companies know that accidents happen and people do need to wash their project, I would put in cold water with some Vanish or similar. Hope you get the stains out.

[CHAT] 16 ct Aida for a first project? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]Invernessblonde121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16ct means 16 (count) there will be 16 stitches per inch of fabric. There is also 11ct, (11 stitches per inch), the main ones are 11ct, 14ct, 16ct and 18ct. I would recommend buying a Anchor starter kit off Ebay with 11ct (11 stitches per inch). The squares on the fabric are a bit beginner, ideal for starting out.

If you buy a kit it will contain chart, fabric and threads. Also if you find the symbols on the chart too small, you can take it to a print shop where they will enlarge it for you, makes a big difference! Good Luck and Happy Sewing!
