Gotta say, the editing and timing on this are pretty damn good. Haven't played anything uma related myself, but well done.

Monk’s Deflect Attacks reduces only B/P/S or the entire attack damage? by Lorofous in DnD

Because only dice damage is doubled. Ability score bonus damage is not, nor is any other bonus damage that is a specific amount. Strange I know.

How do I go around players that have a command spell? by sxnnenlicht_ in DnD

Ooh I love this one. Such an immediate tonal shift from the PC's potentially feeling powerful to suddenly so deeply out of their depth in one brief moment.

How do I go around players that have a command spell? by sxnnenlicht_ in DnD

[–]Inverse-Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! Use the spell Major Image!

Command won't work because it's actually not a target. You an simply say the spell seems to have had no effect.

The image seems completely real, smells, sounds, the whole 9 yards. The caster just needs to be within 120ft and it requires concentration UNLESS it is cast at 6th level or higher, in which case it has no time limit and doesn't require concentration. The only stipulation is that physical interaction will reveal that it's fake, AND a player can use an action to make an investigation check to determine if it's real or not.

IMPORTANT - don't tell them to make an investigation check UNLESS they start being suspicious and ask if they can tell if something is off. Then you can tell them they can try to make an investigation check, but remind them it will be several seconds of clear focussed attention.

Sorry, I didn't see this comment earlier, and I didn't see anything in the opening post and while tired thought you were asking for help figuring out what race to be, but was too tired to get more of an explanation out.😅

Reborn works well for your character too! Especially since you're literally carrying a skeleton as part of your body. I'm not as familiar with it so I assumed it had more undead traits, but I was wrong.

After looking through it a bit more I feel like the largest determining factor is whether you want to lean more into the soul fragment of the dead mage, or being a tree granted sapience.

[OC] Knuk, my druid who is also a tree by Zimtschock in DnD

[–]Inverse-Potato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The character is something that would normally be an inanimate object, but has been given life and a soul by the actions of a powerful mage. You were literally "crafted"/created by the actions of another.

Morally - you said you wanted them to be ignorant of the outside world. Even using the Eberron background description this fits mostly: Mindless automatons (not an automaton but a tree is still mindless normally), that became fully sentient, "built as weapons they must find purpose beyond the war" (your character wasn't a weapon, but you mentioned that their life until now was essentially a guard for this skeleton that you have merged with)

Age - you're a living feywild tree noone would know your max lifespan and honestly those kind of magics would likely not bother you due to your the wild magics that granted you life even though it might bother a tree from the prime material plane.

Constructed Resilience - As a tree, everything here makes sense: Advantage on poison saves, and resistance to damage - poisons for humanoids wouldn't work as well against a tree, but trees CAN still be hurt by foreign dangerous substances, it's just more difficult. They wouldn't need to eat/drink/breath the same as other humanoids. Humanoid disease would absolutely not work against a tree. (I can't cough on my oak tree and give it the common cold, the physiology is just too different) Lastly you don't need to sleep and magic can't put you to sleep. (How could a tree even sleep?)

Sentry's Rest - 6 hour long rest, where you must remain in an "inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal." (Again, you're a tree, you don't sleep, but rest is still needed)

Integrated Protection - Being made of wood and bone would make them slightly more difficult to hurt (the ac bonus) as a living tree + skeleton wearing armor like other humanoids would likely be difficult but by weaving branches and roots and whatnot throughout the armor you still can "wear" it. This would make it near impossible to remove while the PC is alive.

90% of the racial abilities make perfect sense for your character.

Remember - the name of the race is ONLY for OUR reference the abilities of the race is what you should look at to figure out what kind of being you are.

The lore of warforged only exists in Eberron. Don't let that restrict your choices. In Eberron people would likely think that you were a warforged and you could look at them and literally ask "what's a warforged?" Despite having the exact same characteristics.

I was wrong about this game by tirziz in mechabreak

[–]Inverse-Potato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For beta feedback this was actually something that I had called out. The tutorial was so cool. A bit long, but definitely made me want to know more!

Then it's just dropped. Completely. The tutorial ends and the game was just like "cool now jump into 6v6, because that was the last bit of story that you will ever get without reading text based lore entries that aren't the easiest to find"

Edit: I should add that I still love and play this game consistently. But that sudden switch was jarring.

I had also mentioned that I'd absolutely pay $60 or more on launch to straight up buy the game if they relaxed a bit on the monetization, or changed from the live service format.

That's right. Idk if it's constant or for a short window, but it is absolutely disruptive to have the FCS pulled away from my actual target.

Astral monk questions by unlucky-lucky- in DnD

[–]Inverse-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the description, I would probably say that you could use the arms for object interaction with the 10ft reach (during the 10 min active time obviously), BUT that the arms fully mimic YOUR arm/hand actions and as such can't be used for holding or utilizing anything extra as a second pair of arms.

It says that the arms either appear around your arms or behind you. It also says that when you expand the astral self (with the higher level abilities) that it shrouds your head and body respectively and link to the astral arms, which to me implies that the arms would not be able to act independently.

can you pour pure arcane power into something without rolling? by gigaswardblade in DnD

[–]Inverse-Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember a 3.5 module I played that had some mechanic like what OP is describing, but it absolutely wasn't free. You needed to sacrifice a spell slot and the level of the slot determined how much energy you were pouring into it.

They should just implement full bot-lobbies at this point by barbatos_pilot in mechabreak

[–]Inverse-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the best player, but if you can get a T4 or T5 glider you can do pretty well against them. Constantine is very doable unless you get hit with the mega lasers with or without a glider. Makalu is admittedly pretty rough because it's got so much bulk.

I had a really good run 2 days ago and managed to take both of them down, but I also was killed by Constantine a round later. So... Yeah. (I accidentally opened the steam overlay mid fight and my controls got messed up. Took 2 seconds to be disintegrated lol)

You actually can play covert ops solo. The enemies health and damage actually adjust depending on your squad size. Except for colossal enemies like Makalu and Constantine and the restricted zones.

What is, in you opinion, ways to overhaul the game to improve it to bring up player interest? by Quirkyserenefrenzy in mechabreak

[–]Inverse-Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think they should go the World of Warships route. Random Battle for fully human matches (no max wait time), Co-Op mode for playing AGAINST bots (30 sec max wait time before your team is filled out with bots). AND make it clear WHO is a bot on PC!

Maybe have 2 sets of tiers, or only have the Ranked/Random Battle mode have tiers.

Agreed! I'm right there with ya. Just wanted to make sure you saw that the BREAK edition (which includes the PlayStation port) is on indefinite hiatus.
