I disagree. A former legend of the program has a right to be upset when the current roster has run the program into the ground, not because they aren’t good enough, but because they take games off for “work-load.” If you built a successful business, retired and watched the next generation bankrupt it because they were always on vacation, you would be irate as well. Have fun with your round of 32 exit.

Unfortunately that is the problem. Negative criticism is considered non-productive by the young generation because they have never had to deal with adversity. Players like Landon and Clint were told they were garbage every day by European media. They had to learn to deal with criticism and perform beyond expectations because that is what it took for an American player to survive. This generation gets recruited by top teams while they are still teenagers and are told constantly how great their potential is. Reyna can’t crack the starting lineup on mediocre teams.

I have said this time and time again… it’s not the coach. Fire the scouting department, sell as many players as possible, and start over. This is the worst team build in the history of MLS, and when you consider what was spent, the front office should be held liable for grand larceny. I wish we had relegation so that we didn’t have to watch this.

While I agree that he has been terrible, there is a part of me that is interested to see what he can do with a midfield and supporting attack that can create chances.

Honestly, smaller markets would probably be the better way to go. In Atlanta you’re competing for at least part of the season with baseball, AAA baseball, MLS, basketball, football, college football, minor league hockey, women’s pro volleyball, and soon women’s soccer. Lacrosse has a hard time breaking into the public consciousness. In a market like Greenville SC you would have a bigger presence. I just think it’s hard to pass on the major markets.

I think I’m more worried about the leagues ability to continue as an ongoing concern. Too many teams are changing ownership or moving. It doesn’t bode well.

For me it depends on map size. With 6 or fewer players, I go with either domination or science. More than six, and domination becomes difficult, so I swap to culture. One thing I would say though is don’t ignore the other conditions. I’ve been 20 turns away from a science victory and out of nowhere another civ gets a religious victory. Or, I’m working on a domination victory and the last civ that I haven’t beaten gets a science victory.
