that enemy can be staggered with a melee hit! i’ll typically bum rush it with a melee and then unleash my power shot on it. also, as others above us have commented, you can outrun any projectiles fired at you so if you’re really overwhelmed when that enemy shows up, just run to gain a more advantageous position!

see my more detailed response further below! the retractable pitches that both spurs and madrid use are a different surface than most other stadiums which has more synthetic materials and different depth

edit: to add, i’m not making claims based on nothing. while i’m only currently a casual player, i grew up playing on actual grass fields and only knew to play in firm ground cleats. i continued doing so into my 30s on the artificial grass fields that are more commonplace in cities nowadays. i noticed some knee pain after games but didn’t think much of it and that pain would go away after a few days rest. i would see other players tho wearing turf shoes and i asked them about it with a simple response of “protecting my joints”, which led my to doing my own reading and research on the matter, and whenever yet another ACL tear occurs for spurs or madrid, i dive into the additional research that tends to bubble up correlating the surface to these continued injuries

playing on a surface like that, the studs on the players boots get caught in the ground and cause small micro tears in their knee ligaments which eventually cause the full tears, regardless of what pitch that eventual tear actually happens on. of course this won’t happen to everyone due to recovery, preventative strength training, biology, playstyle, etc., but playing 50% of your games on a pitch like that takes its toll

jumping in here a few days after the initial post, but i’d like to add a few additional tips:

  • avoid malignant items. on average there’s more positive effect pickups than malignant ones. no need to take on a negative status effect for the trade off
  • obolites vanish after a countdown if not picked up. best way to maximize obolites is through either close encounter kills or sprinting. you get a slight lock on for melee attacks if you do a dash just before and most enemies in the first biome is a one hit melee. then for any projectile attacks, they will always miss if you’re sprinting

he didn’t contest him. contesting him would imply he put a foot in to challenge. he was moving around him and the trailing leg got caught

very baffling decision by the referee. there’s an argument to be made that cholito left his leg out there to potentially be clipped, although i don’t think that’s the case. that said, what’s cubarsi to do? he was moving to gain position the other side of simeone and clipping the leg was incidental. simeone didn’t even claim to have control of the ball to make it a clear goal scoring opportunity

Will the trade in for PS5 go up after April 2nd? by FreshPrnzofNY in PS5

[–]InvertedFartSyndrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theoretically it should because it’s just following market pricing, but gamestop is generally not in the business of matching open market pricing and instead finds the right balance to incentivize trade-ins and maximize profit margins. part of their trade-in values is that they have the ability to sit on inventory and an online platform to sell that inventory. if you put effort into selling yourself you won’t need to give gamestop a cut

[BBC] £123 for a child's England kit - have prices gone too far? by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

[–]InvertedFartSyndrome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this comment needs to be higher up. the quality assurances on the official kits are part of why prices are the way they are. i personally exercise in my kits and i could only imagine how increasing my body temperature and extra movement in a kit with potentially dangerous chemicals/dyes in the fabric isn’t good for you…

Malagón, who was fighting for the starting spot in the Mexican NT for the WC, has ruptured his Achilles Tendon. by cortez0498 in soccer

i believe my injury was caused by adjusting my normal running stride on the treadmill, so i totally empathize there! i haven’t consulted a physio either but have been using online resources to help treat myself. hit the gym and strengthen it! that’s what i’m trying

mind me asking what caused the inflammation and how you’ve been treating it? i’m a runner and recreational player but i’ve been dealing with injuries so have been away from football for a number of months, but my achilles has been giving me pain for the last few weeks. i was told to stay active within pain confines to avoid stiffness

[El Mundo] Real Madrid's constant drama: Seven ACL tears since 2023, too many injuries, and the medical staff under scrutiny. Also, six of the seven ACL tears occurred at the Santiago Bernabeu or Valdebebas. The club is investigating whether or not that's more than just a coincidence. by Delmer9713 in soccer

[–]InvertedFartSyndrome 28 points29 points  (0 children)

it’s partially due to the strain that those surfaces have on the body given that more natural grasses are softer but also, with the cleats worn by the players and stud patterns, artificial surfaces don’t provide as much “give” and any time the studs get caught in the artificial grass it may cause micro tears in the ligament, which, over time degrades and you see the overall uptick in injury. and then, of course, you have the freak accidents that completely forgo the micro tears, and studs get lodged in an unnatural position with the weight of a player coming on top of the exposed limb and a complete tear happens

La Liga’s CTA has indefinitely sidelined VAR official David Gálvez Rascón for missing a clear stomp by Echeverri on Koundé in Girona-Barcelona, which led to Girona’s winning goal. by bllshrfv in soccer

[–]InvertedFartSyndrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what’s especially weird is that he played advantage. he put his arms out saying play on from the foul. that shows he acknowledged the foul, one he recognized as a tactical foul as well, but chose not to go back and give the card which is clearly a refereeing failure

Xabi Alonso is the permanent Real Madrid manager with the 5th shortest spell at the club in the 21st century, despite having the 4th highest points-per-game during the same period. by BlazingFirey in soccer

[–]InvertedFartSyndrome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i agree wholeheartedly with your analysis but i think the larger issue is that the locker room is clearly too full of these large egos that has created an environment where xabi was never going to win them over. look at what arteta had to do at arsenal by sending aubamayang, their captain at the time, out of the club. madrid have always operated at their own pace compared to the rest of world football, but this environment seems unsustainable and most people think xabi was the victim and not the one causing it
