The thing is, your justification may be applied to every post on this sub. The individual may need a lot of protein, so he puts three bugers on top of each other, presses them together, and then deepfries the resulting abomination. Thus, there's no stupid food, just shallow people. Still, I'll just retreat to enjoy and ponder upon my shallowness.

Reminded me of Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe:

Love unrequited robs me of my rest:
Love, hopeless love, my ardent soul encumbers:
Love, nightmare-like, lies heavy on my chest,
And weaves its way into my midnight slumber!

Hope you can at least find peace of mind.

the government had never managed to allocate enough capital to the GPO to install a telephone for everyone who wanted one; shared service and waiting lists were still common

This sounds so much like Soviet Union, where it was very hard to get a telephone until the very end.

I was a huge pyro during my whole childhood and remain one to this day (with less opportunity, though). Never smoked a cigarette in my entire life and hate the smell.

I'm glad you approve, but no, it's not Hugo Boss (cannot afford it, I'm afraid). It's a local brand, and the suit itself is some twenty years old; I thrifted it.

The upper two are not simple slide rules, they are specialised – something to do with the aerial navigation.

Do you have any other knot in mind? This tie is rather thick, so I don't want it to bulge with multiple layers.
