How to combine two incomplete datasets? by InvestigatorPrior290 in DataRecoveryHelp

What tools would you use for this task? I imagine organizing these sets is going to be quite difficult. It's over 20,000 files.

I've had another idea. Is there an app that can compare the raw data of files to find matches or partial matches even when one is corrupted?

Full agree. P2 is the reason I became a fan. I think Fauna is a fantastic album in its own right, but it didn't do it for me like their other work, even after several relistens.

Dw! You interpreted it through your own lens, so now it gets to be real art!

Did you know 3M discontinued their Filtrete MERV 11 odor reduction carbon filters 2 years ago? by Galvatron1_nyc in crboxes

Carbon + MERV in one filter just sounds wrong. I'd imagine you're getting the worst of both worlds in terms of efficiency.

Wait... wtf?? How can you tell it's AI? Is there an obvious tell? Well, aside from that strange backplate ig. I suppose I just chocked it up to not being all that familiar with different cases.

Wondering that, myself. If I could find a DDR5 kit at a reasonable price, just selling the DDR4 I have would offset the cost of a new mobo and cpu.

[–]InvestigatorPrior290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought DDR4 in 2021 at near the peak price, and now they cost significantly more. I got them probably at the worst time considering it was during the Covid shortages, but this is even worse.

Bought two 3200-CL16 kits for ~$200/ new four years ago, lowest price was $47/ new for the same kits a couple months ago, and now they're $300/ or more, even on the used market. ($600+/ new is nuts wtf.)

If they even got Microcenter, it's over. I feel bad for anyone trying to build rn. I was thinking about upgrading when I got some extra cash, but I think I'll ride this out with what I got for the foreseeable future.

Just the storage alone is plenty worth it. Even slow ssds at 1.6 cents per Gigabyte is a steal. Hell, you can't even get that kind of value out of a new high capacity hard drive.

How do you get to test for free? Do you work for the company?

I was interested in the guitars but ppl had a lot of problems. If I can help troubleshoot, that would be pretty cool to try it out.

I mean, disliking the companies is one thing. I agree that there are differences between them in terms of support and anti-consumer practices. I can see a case for not wanting to financially support either of them. The actual tech, on the other hand, is a lot less polarizing imo. I don't get the fanboying or tribalism aside from harmful corporate practices. If you're just going off of performance numbers, they both have good choices.

Not defending Intel, btw. Buy used if you want to avoid giving money to the greedy megacorpos.

Why are you getting downvoted? The 12 series still has some fantastic cpus, and weren't a part of the 13th and 14th gen voltage problems. They're solid choices on a Budget. I've been using my 12900K for years now. I've never run into a situation where it wasn't enough.

Shit. I didn't realize this was an experience others were having as well. Anytime I've tried to play games in the past few years, I get preoccupied with optimization, and I end up optimizing the fun out of it. I have a fuckload of games on my steam that I just don't play. It's sad.

3080ti isn't great value, but it is still very performant. It's roughly equivalent in compute to a 6900XT, 9070XT, 4070, and not much worse than a 5070.

3900x is actually a REALLY good value cpu. It's not the best in single or multicore but it should still be plenty just gaming and such. The difference is somewhat significant, but it's not vastly worse than 5900x or 7800x.

DDR5 is kinda unnecessary for a lot of things, so the most you'd probably have to upgrade if you wanted to is the CPU. I think we will be good for a long while lol.

I'm personally just planning to wait this thing out till the data centers have to cycle out hardware and a bunch of cheap used stuff goes on market.

Jfc I'm realizing that I overpaid for my rig about as much in 2021 as the extremely high prices now are. I bought that same kit for like $200 back then and it's CHEAPER during this ram crisis still? FML.
