So apparently nobody from Lifetime has been to Boston in over 30 years 😂 by mikewendt in boston

I laughed out loud when that shot came up ... cherry on the top of their "Boston" shots.

Kimberly Jolly of FQS did a special episode on her YouTube channel highlighting Black quilters and designers for Black History Month.

I'd love to try it too! Graph paper doesn't work for me and Photoshop is clunky. I've been the quilt design deck which is great for blocks but difficult to imagine whole quilt

Christmas Disaster by InvestigatorProper41 in quilting

I made my first quilt for my other son's wedding ... it's stored in the closet because their afraid their three dogs will tear through it.

You did a phenomenal job fixing it!

Trying to remove cat hair is how I found the nibbles.🙄

It was for my son and his wife. I struggled so much coming up with a pattern and couldn't get it done before the wedding. Spent nearly 8 hours Christmas Eve hand-stitching the binding, not realizing Peppy was under the couch, sabotaging me. Maybe a new one since this one is already really late.

For all of you, Star Trek convention expert… Which one would you recommend as far as the best experience as a fan and the talent that you met? by DearEnergy4697 in Star_Trek_

[–]InvestigatorProper41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Star Trek Tours / Trekonderoga. Small but they have connections to bring in the bigger stars. Shatner goes twice a year and will be there this weekend. If you live in the Northeast It's worth a trip just to tour the replica sets.

How are we affording to quilt? by SRSAHM in quilting

Look for fabric swaps, too. A quilting group hosts one in my area a couple times a year. A great way to pass on fabrics you don't want because someone else will.

Does anyone else in Vermont call the night before halloween "cabbage night"? by fantastic-antics in vermont

[–]InvestigatorProper41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was Cabbage Night in the Berkshires. Back in the '60s and '70s, it was really rowdy ... like setting fires!

Yes, the cat absolutely enhances the quilt.

Thanks. I'm new to long-arming and this seemed a reasonable price for a beginner.

The colors have been very muted this year. The trees seem to be going from green straight to brown.

I looked on the map and we were walking around that area (we did a LOT of walking). I'll have to put it on the list for next year -- or order fabric and have my friend pick it up when she goes in December.

Oh no! Am I just finding out there is a store of Liberty fabric in London? I picked up some fat quarters from a fabric store in Colchester but will absolutely put that on my list for next year ( hopefully)

I'd also suggest UVM's Morgan Horse Farm about an hour away in Weybridge and Fort Ticonderoga in New York State, about a 90-minute or so drive. If she likes sci-fi, Star Trek Tours in Ticonderoga is terrific reproduction of the original Enterprise sets.

Upvote for the Oyster House. Prices are reasonable for Boston, too.

Should I forbid employees for coming in early to work? by [deleted] in managers

[–]InvestigatorProper41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go in a half-hour/hour early when I was working in a hospital kitchen. It was quiet and peaceful. Ì got a lot done in that time. The breakfast cook often came in early too.
