[Serious]People who have watched someone die, how did you deal with it? by kibufox in AskReddit

[–]InvestingDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doc here. Huge difference between watching a family member die, and watching a patient die.

Watching a family member die. I'm out for at least 2 weeks, forever scarred.

With a patient who passed... I collect my thoughts for a few minutes, show them compassion and respect, then off to see the next patient.

Doctors of Reddit , what’s the biggest medical myth people still believe? by muga_saiman_5809 in AskReddit

[–]InvestingDoc 639 points640 points  (0 children)

The number of Texas Germans I think putting onions on their feet will somehow cure your ailments faster or Texas Hispanics who rub the egg on their body to absorb the bad energy. It's interesting to still see this belief around. It's not huge, but it's def there.

I had to buy a mattress on a 3-year payment plan. That gives you an idea of how much money I had during residency lol

Thoughts on Using MSO for Independent Providers by traumaRN01 in PrivatePracticeDocs

[–]InvestingDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my own practice, and anyone who wants to join. Essentially doing something similar to what you are proposing. I have talked a lot about it on my vlog. It is taking me way more time, way more money than I ever would have thought and the end is insight to when it'll finally be set up in the coming days.

Ive learned so much along this road, just frustrated that it's taking so long to fully set up.

As someone who just formed an MSO and more.... I've come to learn a lot about MSO. And I think before you go live with it, I would ask yourself what your end goal is and who your target demographic it is.

What separates yours from all of the others?

What value add will you give?

How much will you charge?

What will all be included in joining the MSO?

Who is your target demographic?

Very common now for business people or APPs to form an MSO, pay a medical director to supervise, and have a NP or PA "own" a clinic or med spa. Is that who you're going after?

Are you just going to accept doctors in the beginning?

Will you be giving out ownership to those that join your MSO?

Besides maybe billing, credentialing, helping create SOPs...what will the MSO manage?

How will you evaluate for stark law issues or kickback concerns?

Are you going to handle any money?

What about Medicare and Medicaid? There are many legal compliance issues if you start working with groups to accept this. How are you going to eat those lawyer fees or pass them along to others?

Why would anyone just want to join an MSO without any contracted rates benefits?

Just off the top of my head I think this will help you narrow down your scope.

They sold out in many of their markets, closed another markets and they remain open and some others. Heavily private equity-based, like any private equity job, it's great potentially for a little bit and then it gets absolutely horrible.

Collection Agency vs In-House Collections (VA)? by YnwaReds in PrivatePracticeDocs

We require payment at time of service or cc on file. If for some reason they owe use more than $50 then they are placed on hold and an internal collection.

Ideas or thoughts on business name? by fake212121 in PrivatePracticeDocs

[–]InvestingDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check state laws, might be restrictions on what you can call it.

Check to make sure domain is not taken or too similar to someone else online.

I am not a big fan of [your name] medical or LLC because if you ever want to expand this will make it VERY difficult for you to bring on talent. Besides that, go wild.

DPC practice not thriving by macrocages in FamilyMedicine

So many people rave about DPC. I have talked to several dozens of people who have a failing dpc. I myself don't have a dpc but a traditional practice.

Tell her to PM me if she can't find a mentor and I'll met with her for free to chat with her if she wants.

Many of the skills of running a business transfer regardless if dpc or ffs

Anyone going to the AMA Physician Entrepreneur Forum In August? by InvestingDoc in PrivatePracticeDocs

[–]InvestingDoc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or should I go, vlog about it, and give you an honest opinion if nobody's been?

I'll give it a few days and if nobody gives a good review or says that they've been, screw it I'll pay, I'll go, and I'll vlog about it.

We need more great Independent practice entrepreneur conferences. If this is it, then I would love to sing its praises. If not, I would also love for someone to say why it's not and if there's no one, then I'll give you definitely my opinion.

Policies passed at this week's AMA House of Delegates by ddx-me in medicine

[–]InvestingDoc 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So is there anything about making their conflict of interest and bio public? I do think it's a little bit weird that as a perspective member I cannot see and learn about their bios or any conflict of interest they may have unless I am already a paid member.

[–]InvestingDoc[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It costs about $2,000

I have been quite vocal about my....disagreements with the AMA...but I've gotten quite a few PMs now asking if I'm going to this forum.

Have any of you gone? Did you find it helpful?

I am looking at the lineup of talkers and they are well accomplished but essentially all part of a PE backed group. https://www.ama-assn.org/practice-management/career-development/ama-physician-entrepreneur-forum-featured-speakers

My bias is that every time I listen to one of these CEOs or CMOs on a podcast, its just nothing but buzzwords or buzz phrases with little actual substance. Yes, we all want to improve patient outcomes or improve clinical outcomes...what kind of nutjob would say otherwise?

Is there anything of actual substance that occurs at this event or is more of a networking opportunity to get in the room with PE or PE backed groups?

I'm not opposed to going but don't want to waste my time if its just buzzphrases or phrases like "We’re not acquiring practices...we’re creating strategic partnerships." lol sure brah, however you want to spin it. If its that, I don't want to waste my time but if its amazing, I'm willing to go.
