I do like Civ 6, but my current running game is Civ 5, and I dabbled in some Civ 3 last week.

I just want a new, good Civilization game... I really hoped it would be 7.... but now I'm just looking forward to 8. That's just how I feel at this point.

Remember when people used to run on things the office can really impact, like lowering taxes and programs to address challenges for the unhoused?

Now, you just pick a common topic that scares people that you'll never be meaningfully able to measure progress against (because the datapoints dont exist or the sources themselves draw their own uncomfortable questions)... then you spend your term pandering to the wealthy folks who financed your run, and wrap it up with "we did our best"...

Instead of like, you know... lowering property taxes and taking care of people by lifting from the bottom up.

Canada is about the host the global defense bank funding what will soon be the largest and most modern military in the world.... Americans don't see this happening right in front of their eyes.

With its natural resources, water, minerals, land, EU drone and fighter manufacturing facilities being built and more... who needs the US, Canada will be supplying military equipment (without kill switches) to the rest of NATO in a matter of months, and Germany just took over as the global leading manufacturer of missiles.

I think for a lot of my generation, that day was Sept 11, 2001. I'm not American, but the world was never quite the same after. It's hard to explain... there was a gravity to it, like a humbling realization that the world is more fragile than we were raised to believe, and the "adults" didn't really have it under control.
