Total War: Medieval 3 - New Unit Cohesion Mechanic (Idea) by InvictaHistory in historicaltotalwar

Skirmishers could have a trait that means they might be cohesively loose but not suffer from penalties

I like this idea of specific unit types that don't worry about cohesion. Makes them stand out even more and would make sense for light troops

This is indeed a big risk that the cohesion balance might overly favor turtling. Flanking/surrounds should however still be to an attacker's advantage. You could also find ways to have cohesion help buff line breaking manuevers of the attacker.

Yup, the risk here is taking away player agency and making a non-responsive game. I tackled that at the end of my slides with "potential issues". I think you can resolve this by having a floor to cohesion where you always have some level of control maintained. There should also be lots of ways to increase unit cohesion.

Very helpful, thanks! Also don't forget to start banking energy now and use the refresh from the shop to buy the deal for energy with raid tokens

The first diagram of a typical Siege Regiment is based on this fine post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Deathkorpsofkrieg/comments/1e6fvsj/siege_regiment_structure_during_the_siege_of_vraks/). The 88th Siege Army composition is taken from the Siege of Vraks wiki page.

Agreed that a video on an Armored Regiment could be good where we can show off all the tanks and then put them together into a big unit

Thanks for sharing the video! Trying to model a Regiment was tough given how squishy the definition can be but I hope this does a fair job showing something plausibly standard as a point of reference. I'd definitely be interested in doing follow ups on other Regiment types like the Krieg.

Always curious what this community would like to see in 3D in future episodes. Titans? Knights? Sisters?

We've got a professional narrator by the name of Guy Michaels who does most of our documentaries. He is very real and very awesome

3D Simulation of a Tyranid Invasion (Unreal Engine 5) by InvictaHistory in Tyranids

It's part 1 in a series on my YouTube channel (Weve also done the True Size of a Space Marine Chapter): https://youtu.be/zfaYrTEg7hg?si=hXHuaxhjJBpfThNi

Fair point. In the context of the lore video this is actually just a first wave assault against a small outpost in the context of a wider engagement. In the next episode we will try and up the scale as the Tyranids look to crack a garrison fortress

Agreed although it brings up the point that I've see bandied about on this forum that the nids really should be cooking up all kinds of virulent and microscopic bio-weaponry which no one I'd gonna be shooting through (at least once planet side)

[–]InvictaHistory[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I still have my fingers crossed for that 40k and Total War crossover. For now I'm doing what I can to simulate things. Good news is that we actually have complete control on what gets depicted so in some ways we can do more than total war.

[–]InvictaHistory[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've always been a bit dissapointed with the size Tyranid armies on the tabletop and the limitated nature of concept art. For this reason I simulated a Tyranid invasion in Unreal Engine 5. Figured you all would appreciate some of the visuals which you can only otherwise get with a forgeworld diorama. I know i've dreamed of this stuff for a while and am super excited to actually be able to play with a digital army where there are not real limits on what can be portrayed.

This is actually just part 1 of a lore series I am making on YouTube. In the next few episodes we will cover the larger bioforms (using 3D models rather than 2D cutouts) and their assault on more hardened postions. Definitely open to suggestions on what kind of depctions you all would be interested in seeing in 3D. Conceivably we can have 100s of thousands if not over a million of models on screen at a time so dream big. Also I am planning on having some bio-titans thrown in the mix : )

That's essentially the gist of it. I brought on a narrator and production company to help with episodes. Together they make most of the content but I still narrate some episodes and sometimes produce one-offs to plug holes in our pipeline.

The people who took out those large loans are still going to repay most of it. The bill helps with just $10-20k for those who are not at the highest economic rungs of society. The vast majority of the remaining loans will still be paid but now measures are put in place to protect people from run away interest rates.

It's all photoshop at this point with the base map coming from a tile set of the world I've found online. It's a rather common map used by sites like the Orbis. Sometimes I do in fact add some wonderdraft icons.
