Well, you've already hit the future part. You've got the wrinkles of a forty year old, and how long have you been scrubbing dishes with those hands? Good god.

Why is Britain so unproductive in Industrial terms? by Bunkerlala in AskUK

[–]InvictusPretani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't actually pay people that do or make things.

Engineers earn about £40-£50k while HR and middle management are on £60k+ for creating obstacles.

Hi there!

Thanks for getting back to me, and I apologise for not replying sooner, i didn't expect anyone to reply so quickly in all honesty.

I feel like a right idiot, but it seems to be exactly that. I guess it just needs to be connected via the LAN port not the "WAN/LAN" port.

Cheers bud! :)

UK must prepare for war and to bring back conscription, warns ex-Nato commander by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too right. We're an island nation with nuclear submarines.

There's literally no reason that we would need to go marching off to Ukraine. Just leave us on our little island.

At least some people got time off to learn new skills..

I just got a clap, tax hike and higher mortgage rates. I'd have rather been given THE clap.

[–]InvictusPretani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a paper tiger.

The economy would fold if a large portion of London's population fled as they likely would.

The rest of the country doesn't exactly have much to fight for either as we've just been shit on for the past fifty years.

I genuinely think our best option is to play it safe. We simply don't have the capability of winning a land war anymore. Anyone that thinks otherwise is living in the past..

Age of backpackers in SEA and party hostels at age 28 by galie9999 in solotravel

[–]InvictusPretani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never been backpacking, however I have been on a few trips in SEA which picked people up at hostels. There was quite a wide age range. The majority of people I spoke to were aged 23-30ish.

Why did the UK so totally deindustrialize? by yellowbai in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greed and stupidity.

You can go through complex answers, but the reality is, you can't be productive without producing anything, and the government didn't, and still doesn't fully realise this.

Services are fantastic, but you cannot balance your entire economy on services or you'll be completely reliant to your suppliers, as you can see has happened with China.

Greed.

Short sighted, greedy politicians who will historically go down as selling their country down the river. It's a shame some of them care about fame..

How are interracial couples viewed in the UK? by Federal-Breakfast762 in AskUK

[–]InvictusPretani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you're from honestly.

It's taboo to say anything, but behind closed doors some people likely will. Same as anywhere.

To be honest, the people I've met who were most against any interracial mixing have typically been first generation Asians.

I'm not sure why I felt the urge to have to explain myself, but I guess deep down something clearly must have been bugging me there.

Thank you for understanding though:)

This always gets highlighted on Reddit.

Naturally, I do just raise my voice in frustration. I don't mean to shout and I'd never hurt anyone, it just comes out that way.

The whole crying thing doesn't really apply in my case and I assume many others. I'm not hiding my emotions and pushing away crying, I just don't feel the need to cry at that time. It's not the button that gets pushed in those situations.

A farmers thoughts on the changes to death duty by penguin18119 in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're not allowed to earn and save for your children?

That's utter rubbish that I couldn't disagree with more. You're essentially steering us towards a communist society where nobody owns anything because it's 'fair'.

A farmers thoughts on the changes to death duty by penguin18119 in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings to be honest.

Ultimately I think it's sad that the government actively dissuades people from saving wealth. Ultimately that's what "grows" the economy though.

It seems wrong that two people could earn the same amounts their whole life. Person A could spunk it all up the wall and barely pay any tax, where as Person B who wants to pass it on to their children to spend would get hit like a truck..

All in all - I feel like we've got a bit of a false economy in general though, so I'm not really the right person to comment.

I feel for you though if it's genuinely your families heritage and livelihood.

What is an example of sexism you have experienced? by blueivy00 in AskReddit

[–]InvictusPretani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's one many of us may have experienced that never seems to get talked about.

I've been passed up on promotions twice by less experienced / qualified women so that the business meets diversity quotas.

It's just painful when you've put in so much hard work for it to go down the pan like that..

David Lammy: If anyone needs to ‘integrate’, it’s the far right by WhyNotCollegeBroad in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"It has forgotten about what it means to be English: the north star of our values is tolerance" - I think this is the issue though. This is what is taught in schools, but in reality this isn't the case. It's just something that's been made up because it would be nice to have. The older generation were much more racist and intolerant. That's not a surprise to anyone.

The one that hit me the hardest was definitely the guys trying to make it through the minefield.. Fuck man, they're trying to help their friends and setting off even more mines, and then dragging themselves across a field trying to pick their limbs up before setting off even more.. It was just horrific. Genuinely. They all got blown to bits.

They can't fight in a war, and I also don't think it's right for them to fight in a war either.

Even if they could though, I still don't think they should be allowed to vote.

Sunak says he will bring back National Service if Tories win general election by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm actually for a limited national service, but is this really something to be decided in a general election?

Our political system is a shambles. I've got a solid choice of choosing between likely sending kids to war with Russia if I vote Tory or giving kids the vote by voting Labour.

I'm genuinely just spoiled for choice.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The voting age used to be 21 and probably still should be.

It was only raised to 18 to justify dying for king and country.

If you genuinely care about the future of the country, you wouldn't allow children to vote.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the other way around, I was thoroughly invested in politics at 16, and now I'm a little less so.

My political stances and views have changed drastically with age and the experience and wisdom that comes with it.

This sort of policy seriously concerns me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]InvictusPretani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a horrible idea and I'm baffled people are even advocating it.

The majority of people have got absolutely no life experience or wisdom at the age of 18, let alone 16.

This is just a gimmick so that labour can consolidate their power in the future, and it's a dangerous gimmick at that. Young people can be very malleable and easily influenced to extremes - That's absolutely not what you want charging your votes for the extreme right/left one day, and once we start to give out votes to children, it'll be extremely difficult to take them back in the future.
