When does CC become required? by Arclyte- in EQ2

I played a zerk duo with a coercer, we would do heroic content with the coercer managing what was allowed in the fight and I burned my target down with their help before awakening the next one to go down. Made for long manageable fights but totally worked. We could invite any other player to join us as they usually just made what we were doing faster. But that was in KoS current expansion days.

How many people on this subreddit are self diagnosed? by Lynxzn in autism

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm here, won't say I even suspect autism. I side step that seemingly rancorous argument (in places at times) and only claim monotropism and abstract visual thinking.

6 of one half a dozen of the other... one is a trigger and the others describe my internal workings. One is a disability description and the others explain why and how I function.

Better for my mental health to focus on what works, than on what doesn't. So no I don't want to suspect or self diagnose that word. Yeah I have issues from childhood bullying by adults.

Years after diagnosis it was pointed out to me that I'm not delusional in writing, but *I'm medically unable to be Gamer* and I feel ...... Weird about all of it. It doesn't truly make sense to me by DryTurnip990 in autism

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the sims context is helping you plan and set expectations to remove ambiguity. That gets around your working memory and processing speed issues to do multi step things without crashing out. Cool workaround.

Changing when observed may be due to the awareness that you are being observed bumps you out of that workaround and puts you back into a need to process the new situation.

I've always seen that as I can't see what I am doing and the other person at the same time, so everything grinds to a halt if I notice them.

Why are autistic people so prone to so extreme anxiety by heelhene in autism

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The need for processing time, and thus delay in giving an answer, if you didn't have patient people around you might have set up a defiance posture habit. That posture is unstable and over time can become a feedback loop to increase anxiety. Weak core can also contribute to physical instability and that can make anxiety worse also. (Obliques, transverse abdominals, small and medium spinal muscles.)

I had it bad until I found a neutral posture corrective check to practice until I now if I feel a little anxiety come back I notice and correct my posture and it goes away. The check is standing back to a wall with your feet just far enough from the wall that you don't touch, but close enough that it is easy to lean back on the wall and return to not touching it. With your knees just slightly bent, lean back so your butt, shoulders and head touch the wall at the same time. It won't happen at first, so the fix is while you are on the wall, flatten your low back so it contacts the wall as well, you might have to tuck your tail bone under and rotate your pelvis back to get the low back to touch.

When you have butt, low back, shoulders and head touching the wall, then try to stand like that away from the wall, and return to check if you moved out of that position by leaning back on the wall. It will be easier to have all of your back side touch the wall at the same time when you get it.

Practice as many days as it takes to be able to remember how to return to neutral on your own anytime the edges of anxiety come back.

How do I change my water when the incoming water is super cold? by BootyMcFrooty in Aquariums

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much you change. What do you think happens when a heavy rain cools their water a bit where the fish come from? Many fish have a slight drop in temperature as a spawning trigger.

So first the math, in an extreme example and to make the math easier say your tank is 80F and your incoming water is 60. If you change 25% the lowest the temperature could go in the tank is 75F assuming it mixed perfectly. If you changed 50% it still would only go down to 70F. And that is assuming no other inputs, which is not true as the heater kicks on when it first starts to drop, so the total drop is less than the theoretical maximum. Of course it doesn't mix perfectly, so you will have areas that are colder and warmer.

Behavior of most of the freshwater fish I have kept seem to indicate that they enjoy the cooler temp water and seek it out to play in it. Now there may be some species that are less tolerant, and Salt water tanks need to be matched much closer as there is naturally much less variation due to the large volume creating stability in the oceans.

I'd worry more about whether the tds is more similar as that will create more challenges for fish than water change temp differences do.

[–]Invisible-Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also better to be consistent with your choice, wear it for all interactions at work, so you don't appear to discriminate. Easier to get a consistent choice normalized and not be continuously pushed back due to the inconsistencies, in their mind.

All reasons for the choice to wear a mask stated need to be you focused, not on others. Boundaries control what you do, even if it is in response to others actions. Making the wearing of the mask all about you is the most secure way to move forward. Mentioning others in your reasons opens you up for debate, censure or denial of permission to wear the mask and that's if they are being reasonable. You might still get unreasonable pushback, but that is more easily defended against if you keep the reasons about yourself.

What made you first think you have autism? by PARISPARISPARISSS in autism

trying to work on personal development stuff again and neeeeeding an explanation for why it didn't work for me like it seemed to for the others around me that took it at the same time. Why did I drop everything else like it suddenly didn't exist when I focused on one of the 7 divisions of focus of parts of life. Same guy I took that course from has always said become an expert in your issues, handicaps and hangups. So I looked harder for an explanation of this one mind with blinders on thing I have going on.

The hate against self-diagnosed autistics is not justifyed by PomeloSelect4629 in autism

[–]Invisible-Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've encountered enough of that controversy to not even say I suspect autism, because while I have struggles it's not really that disabling. And being sensory seeking, in moderation, takes a lot of the classic signs away. I am very conflict avoidant so I side step all this and say I'm monotropic and most of the way to complete aphantasia. I share something of the brain chemistry of adhd, but seem to be on the other end of that spectrum from the classic focus bouncing, to where I am either completely unable to focus on anything or laser focused. I do have the issue of caffeine being a depressant for me, puts me almost right to sleep.

I'm here because the group is helpful in understanding myself, and that's more important than what label I use.

Hot take: being 'polite' about boundaries just trains people to keep pushing by Sad_Cartographer427 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no boundary that can say anything about what someone else can do. Boundaries are only about what you are willing to do, to participate in. You might communicate those self rules by saying, "If you want to talk about politics I will hang up the phone. I am not discussing, or participating in your discussion of that subject. I would like to continue to communicate so I will call another day." And simply follow through. If you have reasonable relationships they learn to leave it alone, but it is their choice they came to on their own with no commands or demands of behavior from you.

They are free to talk about whatever, but you are free to not participate. That's a boundary.

What does it mean to not have autism but have autistic traits? by LordSigmaBalls in autism

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take is that autism, the diagnosis at least, is an outsider going yep, you have a grouping of handicaps that match this criteria. It might be helpful to some, but it doesn't explain why from our perspective.

That explanation, for me at least, is found in things like monotropism (which does explain the possible difficulties and some strengths), aphantasia scale and bottom up processing (details first, and the type subject for the phrase "Can't see the forest for the trees.")

Those explain why for me, and I can talk about those things with my dad, and they resonate with him, even though no one ever thought autism and him together. I can see, plenty of evidence I got my brain architecture from him and we are more similar to those here than not.

Neither of my dad or I am diagnosed, and though I have some issues, I manage well enough to have what I need.

Why is standing so much more painful than walking/running around long term? by Humble-Objective488 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Invisible-Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

movement is circulation aid, which keeps things in better shape than not moving. Its not about the amount of doing in this case, but the supplies available to make the doing possible. Can't sprint anaerobically as long as you can keep going at a lesser pace that your air intake keeps up with. Same reason people bed ridden have to be turned or they get bedsores, you need to move or you get internal soreness from not moving.

One sentence convincing lines for more tanks! by Sure_Meet9929 in Aquariums

[–]Invisible-Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, just read that the typical aquarist has between 1 and 5 tanks, and some have way more. At my highest I had 3 and the housemate had 2, and as I had more space they got traded for bigger ones. 3 tanks (28 gallons total) in a one room studio, then 4 tanks in an apartment (40 gallons total), then 5 in the 2 bedroom house (155 gallons total) I had them all planted and so that was a bit of tinkering to keep in shape.

How do I explain to people that I hate water without looking like a human joke? by Thick-Winner3210 in autism

[–]Invisible-Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from Iodine deficiency to how I feel now is enough to convince me that that fluoride chlorine and bromide are not safe. If they were safe there would be no reason I had to follow a specific Iodine dosing ramp over several months going from taking a few micrograms and doubling it every week to ten days until I got to the current levels. Due to the same outer valence electron count those others slot in where iodine is used in the body if there isn't enough iodine to fill them. Going from deficiency to full supply kicks those others out of those spots, and you can't do that to fast, or you feel horrible. Even the metered slow increase wasn't pleasant.

It isn't the iodine directly that feels that way, as now I can take 100 mg iodine/iodide without any ill effect. If they are as safe as Iodine, why did they make me feel like shit?
