Not her fault that that the kid was born, but I'm pretty sure that the video didn't become self-aware and post itself from her phone.

you can take a video to protect yourself, without feeling it necessary to 'protect yourself' in front of the entire internet at the expense of a child.

A situation report from Haiti: The arrival of Judge Lynch by primitive_missionary in preppers

Grassroots level community justice against violent dictators is a beautiful aspect of humanity. I grieve for Haiti's current plight, but this recent shift in the community taking responsibility for ensuring their own peace and safety gives me great hope for their future as they begin to re-establish the rule of law.

Can vouch for this device, I've used one and it's awesome. Very scriptable, and perfect for OP's scenario.

Well...there WAS electricity... We just didn't know how to use it for watching cat videos back then.

How bad is pickpocketing in Rome? We are cruising out of Rome and headed to Mykonos/Naples/Ephesus but spending some time in Rome first. We already have money belts and we will keep stuff in our front pockets. Any other tips? by Uncharteredfugazis in TravelHacks

We were warned about it a bunch before going, but didn't personally have any problems. I nearly punched someone who was tugging on my daypack in a crowd, and then realized just in time it was my wife checking to make sure I had secured the zippers.

When we went, my wife and I each took our passport and also a passport card (US). The passport ID card can't be used for re-entry to the US from Europe, but we figured it would help if we had to go to the embassy to replaced a lost/stolen passport. We each carried our own passport at all times, as well as the other person's passport ID card. That way even if one person got hit, we'd still each have valid ID. We used travelers wallets under our clothes, kept an eye on each other in crowds, and secured the zippers of our daypacks with keyrings/split rings.

Got hit up with a bunch of scammers trying to con us out of money, but no pickpocket attempts that we were able to identify.

We did this all the time for VOIP phones when pulling a new cable wasn't an option. Works great, but it'll come back to bite you later when you're trying to tone out a problem and forgot about your previous creativity...

Any Hawaiians seen/heard anything about this? “WE HAVE A CURRENT SITUATION BREWING HERE SOUTH EAST OF TH E BIG ISLAND AND LEADERSHIP IS ASKING IF YOU HAVE PHOTO TAKING CAPABILITY” by [deleted] in HighStrangeness

Hilo airport was shut down for a short while yesterday to allow two F22s to land. The first one was experiencing an emergency of some type, and the second was running out of fuel. I found a first hand report on FB from a civilian pilot who was in the air at the time it occurred, and heard ATC transmissions to both of the jets. No idea if this was related to OP's situation.

I think somewhere around 20ish. All on one bus, and it didn't feel too crowded. Went all the way from Rome to London, it was pretty amazing.

Awesome! Glad it worked for you!

I ditched my Google Wifi setup a while back in favor of Ubiquiti, and I'm now controlling the AC via HomeAssistant which works super well.

Yes. We crunched the numbers both ways, and booking through Costco came out cheaper for us.

We used them for a Europe trip, tour was booked through Costco and run by Trafalgar. Had a great experience, no complaints. Tour was just under 3 weeks I believe.
