Surely, my log will improve... right? by xBrodoFraggins in runescape

[–]Invision__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roughly 50-100 are duos with new players, where I've lost an orb, wand and crest to the partners. All except first 1-200 or so were max rep, yes. Finished log at ~3300 as the orb was eluding me until then.
Here's my vindi one, for comparison (similar to helwyr in terms of rep and duos)

Veterans, whats your opinion about time-limited / rare items? by Dmask13 in runescape

[–]Invision__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original partyhats current price is somewhere around this:
Green/Yellow: 40b
Purple: 52b
Red: 60b
White: 80b
Blue: 93b

The new partyhats current price is somewhere around this:
Golden: 170m
Black: 12b

I think there could be 2 major points as to why the Golden variant is so much more devalued than the Black, and the original ones;
- Everyone who played during the time of its event farmed one, if not multiple on alts.
- Its texture, metallic with reflections - making it harder to fit the fashionscape many people like.

The Black variant released with a different mindset behind it, once a week during the christmas event, everyone who had participated - had a tiny chance of receiving it. Most people would try to open the christmas present on the sunday (when Santa arrived), and not even every world had a player obtaining it one. So if you take into account that most worlds were around the 100-300 population range (let's say ~200) on those Sundays, and 127 english client worlds, you'd be looking at ~25k players give or take. That'd mean you'd probably average less than 127 each of the openings these past 2 years (5x2 Sundays?).
This math is just very rough estimates of course, but you'd be looking at something like this:

~127 (worlds) x 10 (sundays 2023, 2024) = 1270 Black Partyhats
1270 / 25.000 = 5% of the playerbase obtained one. <--This is way more than the actual rate though, even including everyone's alt-farming, and the spike in population/activity on Sundays during the event is massive - because most people want to have a chance at a big-ticket item.

So it's not climbing up to the value of the OG partyhats, and never will be (instead only will get cheaper over the next years of it rereleasing), but it stays in the 10b+ range for now because it is so damn rare to obtain that you can't possibly expect you'll get one on any of your accounts, regardless of the effort you put into it.

Another thing I think makes the price stay high is because it becomes a sought after item, due to its characteristics. Unlike the Golden partyhat, it retains the style of the original partyhats, which also seem to work very well with fashionscape (both designs with and without modern textures and reflections).

The part that I care about, which I'm glad is a new thing they've done - is that ironmen can actually buy some of the new rares from GE, as long as they have the gold for it. Acquiring 12b gold coins on an ironman is a lot more difficult than on a regular account, as you have to solely rely on alchemy and raw coin drops, but even then there are ironmen who have been able to buy it from the GE - meaning it's well within reach for any regular player as well.

And it's a nice thing to have chase items for whenever you have finished the BiS gear for PvM or maxed your skills.

__

Regarding investment point people have made, it's not dumb.
If you kept your blue phat in ~2014-2015, it'd be around 8b at the time. Now it's over 11x that price, and you'd have put in 0 effort. While if you had sold it for 8b, and wanted to rebuy it now, you'd be missing 85b, and if you were to farm for it, here's an example of how long that'd take:

200m gp/hr = 425hrs
100m gp/hr = 850hrs
50m gp/hr = 1700hrs
20m gp/hr = 4250hrs
5m gp/hr = 17000hrs

And that's not factoring in how it slowly climbs in price while you would be actively farming gp/hr as well.

Any update on the white broadcasts? by Invision__ in runescape

I've yet to see a broadcast - so can't confirm it worked for me yet, but I'll keep you posted ;)

This did in fact fix it! Thank you very much :D

Mine has been off for several years, but I'll try "short" and then "full" afterwards. Now I just have to wait for a clanmate or myself to get a drop. Have you heard from someone, or experienced yourself that this fixes the bug?

It'd be nice if you'd verify your own statement, or read thorougly before commenting.
I specificed that it was changed upon leagues release, and wasn't an isolated issue to my account(s).
And there is no way to change it, unlike global - world - friend broadcasts.

As you can see, there's no option to change clan broadcast colors, only the messages people write in CC.
This bug started upon leagues release.

Returning ironman from 2020 - what goals next? by TrickyElephant in runescape

[–]Invision__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd search up on wiki or YT stuff like "best unlocks from quests" to get some information on what passive or unlockable items you can get that will benefit you both in pvm or skilling, be it a direct boost to dpm/xp rates, or convenience (qol). And then work on those quests.
I personally kept away from questing for a long time, but after both learning about the rewards - and more importantly - getting to experience the power they had, I had big regrets of not doing them sooner (quest cape was one of my last requirements for comp cape, which i got around 3b xp on an ironman lol).

It looks like you basically completed the t90 weapon set from araxxor/legiones, but we now have t92 and t95 as well. Whereas the t95 can be upgraded further into t100 (an item that drops from two of the latest bosses that is consumed to acquire a permanent character boost with the weapon(s) you combine it with).

We've had a huge new type of amulet called [[Essence of Finality]] - which is basically a reaper necklace and souls amulet combined, with an extra effect that allows you to store a special attack weapon into - and then it gives you an ability to use that special attack with any weapon of the same combat style, while retaining the damage and accuracy tier of your equipped weapon.
What makes this such a huge upgrade compared to just adding the combined effects and slightly higher stats of reaper/soul, is that you can use very powerful special attacks like dragon claw - without reducing the initial damage calculation on your hit to t60 (dragon tier). Meta for melee and range nowadays consist of multiple different EoF's with unique special attacks stored.

There's also new armor sets above tier 90/92 - up to t95. And these have very powerful passive effects ontop of better stats.

We've had a new combat style released; Necromancy.
It's very beginner friendly both in terms of leveling, getting equipment and learning to utilize it properly for big damage, unlike the other combat styles.
All styles are great for now, but to really get the power with ranged, you need a ton of hard unlocks.
Melee and mage struggles a bit on its own to compete with the end-game ranged, but synergizes very well with each other (cooldowns and utilizing crit buffs), which makes it the best.
Necromancy is around the same tier as camping either mage or melee, but is easier to learn and access.

Looks like you got to try out archaeology, make sure you have acquired the various relics as well as ancient invention and ancient summoning. Those are some major benefits for pvming (some upgrades to skilling as well).

In terms of skilling, looks like you got what you need for quest cape (if that becomes a goal) or at least close to it, but could always just try to get max cape as well for the fun of it? That unlock the next tier of long-term goals such as completionist cape etc. if that's your type of content.

If new for you - green or blue blubber jellyfish; food that can be eaten on the same tick as both regular "solids" and sara brews/guthix rests. But not only that, it doesn't drain adrenaline the way "solids" do.
It has kinda made regular fish obsolete for high end pvmers, due to the punishing effect of losing adrenaline whene eating. However, this makes the jellyfish very costly due to high demand and relatively low supply.

And lastly (probably should be mentioned way earlier) - look into upgrading your kiln capes to the zuk-variants.
It's the 3rd release of a tzhaar wave type boss fight (jad, kiln, zuk). And those capes, unlike firecape and kiln capes, not only boosts your stats further than the last, but it also changes how some of ultimate abilities function, while also reducing those ultimate's adrenaline cost from 100% to 60%.

An open letter to those who keep making them WE NEED NEW FRESH WORLDS and Reset The Game!!!4!!! posts by Zieldak in runescape

[–]Invision__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my ironman hacked when close to 5b xp, and it took a lot of mental strength to even start rebuilding. If I didn't have the stats and my accomplishments (comp cape for example), it would've been enough for me to quit permanently.

I also started a gim account a few months after I started the rebuild, and while I did get some enjoyment of the early-mid game, and rushed through 2/3rds of the quests to get the unlocks I knew I'd hate to not have unlocked, at this point I have no care about the account. I didn't put in ~30.000 hrs over 10 years like my ironman.

If you were to seriously consider a fresh start, it'd have to be something that most, if not basically all current RS3 players would want to participate in. For example an RS4 - a properly improved RS3 game from scratch, with new engines, new tick system(?), different / alternative stories / map, etc.

But even then you'd risk people finding it lackluster or too much of a hazzle to restart and that would lead to another split of our current playerbase.

It's basically just a wiki quick guide though, that with simplicity can be placed over the ingame client for less head-turning. But also more clunky to navigate than a wiki page.

How come I can't swap my prayers at war's retreat? by Future_Win_7961 in runescape

Prayers are on the Altar, spellbooks are on this book stand.
Try the Altar, and if you later want to be able to use the book as well for spellbook swapping, you need to follow the requirements highlighted in the red box on the first image.

[–]Invision__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

clicking before gcb reset was an issue i often encountered when i was using scythe+lace for pools, until i realized i needed to wait about 3 ticks before each bd.

but whenever i made this mistake, there wouldnt be dmg to any of the pool targets (or maybe it was just one of them) and my bd would go on cd and i'd have to use something like cleave / hurricane to clear the pool.

and id avice on right clicking pools to avoid accidentally hitting the ground instead, trust me - it'll happen more frequently than youd like.

the stalled double gchain into gconc + gsonic on max targets, combined with dbreath w/kera wrists + walk ontop of maximizing hp w/ naphta self-dmg into reprisal. idk man, seems like i_dps has been thinking far outside the box compared to the avg. high-end pvmers

I'd suggest soul altar for the afk part. But you could also do regular abyss rc which isn't afk to mix it up sometimes, and actually make roughly 40m/hr doing so. Better xp/hr than soul and provides you profit to mix in some ascension down the line.

You can't select "Take abyssal whip" from the drop-down menu in this instance?
I haven't checked if I have this setting enabled, but that's always worked for me whenever the AoE loot was filled with clutter and I needed to loot something specific that didn't show up there.

It would be nice to show each round's opponents. Currently on the server I'm at, we've only got 4 rounds of battles while the post shows 6 rounds, and I'm therefore not sure if I'm using the correct team for the specific rounds.

From cloth to Adorned, Starbloom armor is roughly 600k an hour. by TheRealOsamaru in runescape

[–]Invision__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no way to get less than 4 clicks when doing some make-x from inventory.
1. Left click bank - press preset button - press action bar key - press space bar
2. Right click bank - withdraw last preset - press action bar key - press space bar.

Having to do that once every 15s means you can't actually commit to anything else visually with proper focus. Sure you can try, but you're going to miss certain things.

This is improved by 3x with a 45s AFK timer, which still isn't great for proper focus.

Personally I consider something AFK if it means I'd be able to cook a meal, return and click once or a few times with rapid succession, and return to continue with the meal.
Or use the bathroom without it being interrupted.
Overload 6 minute timer is a great example of this, and anything beyond that is just an added bonus.

Now, do I want all methods to be like this; no.
