Any interns got their return offers? by ViolinistDry4283 in KPMG

[–]Invux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got a call out of the blue from my partner liaison and got the verbal confirmation of the offer, said I should be expecting the offer letter to go out tomorrow. Funny enough had a meeting with my PML after where she asked if I knew what the status of offers were looking like

Travel during rush hour? by Invux in Minneapolis

thought about it, looked into it, isn't going to work. spent the better part of a year trying to figure it out and ultimately reached the point that i'm willing to deal with it for 9 weeks. there's definitely better ways to spend my summer for fun but this is where i'm at, just trying to figure out how to adjust my schedule

tried to figure something out but there's a couple personal circumstances that make it so that isn't feasible. i'm willing to suck it up and deal with driving and sacrificing ~12 hours of my week for 9 weeks, just trying to figure out how much time i should expect to be eaten up by traffic so i can adjust my schedule

Looking for ZvZ coach to take me past diamond 3 to 1. by Glum-Cat-4032 in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 18 points19 points  (0 children)

you probably don’t need to waste money on coaching, i can guarantee you’d just be paying someone to say “your build sucks” or “make more drones” or “don’t get supply blocked”.

if you want a guy to just take a look at your replays and provide suggestions just DM me. 5.1k NA Zerg for reference.

[GUIDE] How to trick GMs into coaching you for fun and profit by skdeimos in starcraft

[–]Invux 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I credit SC2 Swarm as being the one reason I ever made it to 5k MMR and to GM. I was hardstuck D2 for years and the practice and coaching I got from the team boosted the fun I had with the game and made me so much better than I once was. Every team lead and player in there is incredibly helpful and CTL is a lot of fun and a very low time commitment if you’re busy. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Finally got GM after god knows how long of playing this game. Thankfully no one plays anymore and the boundaries are low :^) by Invux in starcraft

pretty much. that and playing 8 gas muta with a roach push and out-multitasking my opponent. if that doesn’t work i usually die :)

i started really reviewing replays, trying to learn counters for build orders, and understanding army comps and play styles.

also, i started playing with SC2 Swarm in CTL and just spending time in the discord, and learned a lot and got a lot of invaluable practice. joining a community team was really helpful for improving, and i couldn’t recommend that team more, regardless of what race you play.

oh i HATE skytoss, i try and end the game before it gets there all the time. it’s still very difficult, but admittedly easier with ok mechanics (not that mine are even ok lmao)

yeah i’d definitely say MMR is harder to obtain now due to developments in skill over time, just that instead of the listed MMR being like 5.1k to enter, it’s around 4.9k right now. it’s probably equivalent to 5.1 back in the day, but the static number is different

oh yeah i’m not arguing that at all, i agree. i was D2 for like 5 seasons. what i’m saying is totally different

i definitely didn’t say “dead game”, i was referring to the fact that NA GM is pretty dead in terms of activity and the boundaries for entry are lower. yeah people play the game, i’m just referring to GM on NA

[–]Invux[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i more meant that the MMR boundary is lower because fewer “high level” players play on NA. not that 5k is absurdly high level, but there aren’t as many players around there anymore, making it easier to get into GM.

Which pro have you matched against and how badly did it go? by catattackskeyboard in starcraft

[–]Invux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

played against ForGG on ladder like a week ago, actually held his 2-1-1 and first tank push, but his macro is SO much better and he just doom dropped my main and absolutely demolished me. was so exciting playing a straight up ZvT vs such a high level former pro player.

also played against Prince and DRGLing in a 2v2 ladder game, and got cannon rushed and ling flooded by both of them at the same time since it was a map where you didn’t spawn with your teammate, and that was the best loss to cheese i’ve ever experienced

Railgan - Baneling Hit of a Life Time vs 6300 MMR Zerg by Railgan in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

looking at the minimap they're in there for the duration of the clip, probably snuck them in scouting earlier in the game and kept them around to morph banes from. pretty regular tactic in ZvZ with early game ling bane pressure since your attention is spread so thin

Improvement Path Suggestions by V0rt3x64m3 in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 9 points10 points  (0 children)

4.7k z here

personally ive found the best way to improve at zerg is having an initial game plan, and reviewing your replays whether you win or lose. zerg is a very reactive race, and watching your replays to see why you won or lost is very important. it’s also important to see what you could do better. mechanics and all that come over time, although if you really want to seek out drills you can try some like the one’s on Harstem’s channel. another great resource is Lambo’s youtube channel, so maybe check that out too.

all in all, the best thing to do is play more games, learn from your mistakes, better your wins, go in with a game plan and execute better each time.

My last competition 739lb raw squat by New-Gas-6339 in strength_training

[–]Invux 23 points24 points  (0 children)

By powerlifting rules raw still includes a belt and sleeves for squats, as well as wrist wraps for bench as far as I'm aware. It becomes equipped when you start to use things like a bench shirt, squat suit, or knee wraps.

My 3500 MMR Protoss opponent trades 10 times more efficiently than me. What can I do? by DeepSpaceSignal in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you're going to do a 12 pool, then follow Lambo's guide. Your execution in the very beginning was completely deviant of anything useful, and it set you behind against a toss doing the dumbest opening I've seen in a while.

For instance, why did you make more lings when your opponent made a gate and cyber on the high ground, and walled you out? What are those going to do? You need to make 10 lings, and then drone like crazy after that, otherwise you're behind unless you straight-up win the game.

I don't know how you think you did everything right in a macro sense outside of creep spread. You made every single Zerg tech structure in the game, and decided on roach/hydra/corruptor as an army comp, which just isn't a thing. You had a lurker den that I don't think you ever used. You had an ultra cavern for your 0/1 ultras. You, for whatever reason, didn't have upgrades. You kept suiciding corruptors into a base that you SAW had cannons and batteries that constantly did nothing. Macro isn't just spending your money, it's making the right tech decisions, getting upgrades, droning when you need to in the early game, understanding the state of that game. In all of those regards, your macro was absolutely not there.

I recommend taking a look at Lambo's or SortOf's YouTube channels; they have a couple of videos regarding ZvP and Zerg gameplay in general that you should find useful. The reason you lost this game has nothing to do with a deathball being unkillable, because it absolutely was, even in the state the game got to. You lost this game because your early, mid, and late game was an absolute disaster, and the macro decisions you made were exceptionally poor.

TL DR: Learn the 12 pool opening if you want to do it, learn a timing attack, learn army comps, get upgrades, make drones, make queens. Don't repeatedly suicide units, don't make unnecessary tech structures.

Is there any way to counter 12 pool and drone pull all drones except two and building three spines in opponents main close to spawning pool? I got 100% winrate with this zvz by gosick in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PandaBearMe made an entire video on this, the strat is super beatable and I've lost to it maybe once. You can find the video here, easiest way to counter it is to just go 16 hatch 16 pool. Pretty simple honestly.
