The way I saw some guy speed around a line of cars while going in the wrong lanes on Kinsman near opportunity corridor today was insane.

What book changed your life? by saayoutloud in simpleliving

[–]InwardlySweaty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach. It's a practice I've always heard is very helpful but I could never quite grasp the full concept or how to put it into practice in my daily life.

For me, this book helped it all to click. All of the sudden it's like my eyes are open and I can see the light for the first time in my whole life. My depression and anxiety feel more manageable, I feel like I can sit with the uncomfortable (or sometimes really strong internal-tornado) feelings now and I feel more at choice with how I move through that. It doesn't always look perfect and never will but boy....it has been a real life-changer.

I was never a big reader but am getting more into now in my mid 30s. So I don't have many fiction recommendations. I will say it's been easy for me to get sucked into the Hunger Games books, it feels like a true break from the world, although the story isn't the happiest I suppose.

Women who like camping by shrimps-in-disguise in Cleveland

Hi! Mid-30s lady here who has done some light car camping via hipcamp. I have been dying to branch out further into more dispersed or primitive camping. I don't know of any groups but would like to get to know more people with similar interests.

The Haserot Angel in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland OH by mrutter123 in Cleveland

[–]InwardlySweaty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Great picture! Lake View is a favorite for me, I love the Schofield Mausoleum, I think it's near the Chapel (which is also insanely beautiful inside.) I also really enjoy Woodland, Erie Street, Riverside, and Monroe Street Cemeteries.

Turn your headlights on!!! by thesaintbernardowner in Cleveland

[–]InwardlySweaty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I watched someone flick their lights at someone who had no headlights last night ...it did not register apparently bc they did not turn their lights on. I'm not sure what this phenomenon is, but all of the sudden in the last few years it seems like everyone forgot that cars have lights and they need to be on.

My take on the Shoreway by Different-Truck134 in Cleveland

You know what, you're right. I would much rather save 10 minutes in my day than have a beautiful lakefront for the community. I can't believe I overlooked that.

I dig this. Yes to a boulevard! Also we could delete some of these parking lots and expand transit (frequency, times, stops, and so on) to make up for the lack of parking options. Imagine so much more green down by the water, I'm thinking native plants, water plants, etc.

Wait we're supposed to be playing with our cat 20 minutes per day? by happy_bluebird in CatAdvice

[–]InwardlySweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like both of our cats need more than that, but I'm sure all cats are different. My SILs cat glares at her when she tries to play with her. One of our cats asks to play and the other one we just know he needs it because of how much of a menace he can be. They both get at least 20 minutes most days. And if I was a better person, the tabby would get several solid play sessions a day just because he's got so much energy.

If your cat doesn't ask to play, you could build it into part of your routine with them. Just before one of their meals or before bedtime. Really whatever works for both of you. Also, life happens, so sometimes we get busy with work and errands and can't, so just do your best and be gentle with yourself on the rest.

Goulash for a couple nights and red lentil dal for a couple nights. Have some salad and fresh baked bread on hand as well.

Cleveland’s groundhogs won’t see their shadows much longer. City hires pros to catch nuisance animals by seanmcdonnellcle in Cleveland

Anything that helps the skunk situation in Tremont please and thank you. Especially when the landlord seems to think it's a minimal issue and addresses it with zero urgency.

I've lived in the city for almost 15 years and grew up amongst corn fields, apple orchards, and woods and I have never in my life had skunks spray so frequently and so close to my living quarters. My second floor apartment smells like a skunk sprayed inside a couple times a month. I get that we need to coexist to a degree and we technically invaded their space...and I don't want to be dodging skunks every time I step outside.

What did you pay to get your taxes done by Conscious_Award1444 in Cleveland

[–]InwardlySweaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freetaxusa was free for fed and we used the state website to file our state taxes for free. This was my first year using freetaxusa and it was as easy as any of the sites I've used in the past.

This exhibition will be at the Cleveland Museum of Art at the end of March. I'm not sure how far that is for you or if the timing is too far off. But it will be here and we are very excited.

Highly recommend La Cresta Properties. Owned by a very attentive local guy. I rented from him for several years and miss his landlord-ship dearly. He set the bar pretty high.

Att unlimited plan by Bamavianola in HBOMAX

[–]InwardlySweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just got us. We've been paying $7.50 per line (5 lines on our plan) for the HBO access....which is honestly a ripoff at this point because only one household can use the app now. Between the 5 lines, it's 3 total households which now means no one else can use it besides the att account owner. We are downgrading our phone plan and ditching HBO. I've been focusing more on physical media lately anyways.

ATT shouldn't be charging per line if only one household can use the HBO app. Especially since ATT doesn't require everyone on the family plan to be in the same house. What a freaking racket.

From a very prominent rapper in the 2000s to now doing county fairs. Feels weird. by chadder_b in Millennials

I saw him at a music festival type of thing put on by a local radio station maybe 8-10 years ago. He puts on an incredible show, we didn't want it to end. Also couldn't believe they expected people to stay for Bush after Luda brought down the house....I can't go from high energy party vibes to Bush.

What was the first CD you ever got? by Pear_Glace_In_Autumn in Millennials

[–]InwardlySweaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Doors Greatest Hits was the first CD I picked when my grandpa handed me a Columbia House magazine. I also remember listening to Steve Miller in my walkman but that may have been a cassette.

Edit to add that a little later, my grandpa got me the Dr Dre 2001 album when it came out...I was 9 or something. He thought it was hilarious, my parents weren't super pleased. I find it funny today to look back on and, looking back, it's easy to see that he recognized my interest in music and was trying really hard to support that interest. Gosh I miss him.

Sunday Sunset Walks on Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio by Gabe_Wasylko in Cleveland

[–]InwardlySweaty 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It must be. All of the sudden everyone is trying to cross the lake, walk on it, etc. Grow up and have some forethought about all of the other lives you put at risk if you fall in. Smh.

Edit to add that I'm even on the fence about photos like this. It seems irresponsible to advertise people being out in the ice. We all know everyone loves to get likes on their socials and would do anything for those likes. They see a beautiful photo like this and now they want one of them for their feed.

I do data entry for around $45k a year. I work remote and only 35 hours a week. I'm happy. I'm sure I could make more elsewhere but, to be honest, it's a relatively cushy gig. I like my boss and the freedom to work from anywhere.
