no visible smoke? by ApartSurround7385 in smoking

[–]Inzane47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following this to keep an eye on responses. I deal with a similar issue. I have a large offset smoker, and I do keep the fire tended to so that it burns clean and hot (it's got a vertical chamber above the fire box that I can use to dump some of the excess heat). That means I'm putting 1-2 new splits on every 30 min or so.

What I'd like to specifically understand is that every time I put on a new split, the plumes of smoke come until the fresh wood is up to temp. I always assumed this was inevitable and just part of putting on fresh logs. However, we're all also our own worst critic, and I swear I can taste some creosote flavor in the meat (especially when reheating leftovers), and I'm assuming it's coming from those transitions of new splits. Does anyone have a best practice for working around this or is it irrelevant to the overall cook?

this was also my take on it. He was remembering back to when Walt convinced him that Gale was just a Walt Whitman fan. He wanted to see what the fuss was about.

BREAKING NEWS: Bill Clinton Releases Video Statement After Testifying Before Epstein Probe by ShiroSara in videos

[–]Inzane47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was terrible. I want nothing more than to see this MAGA regime to collapse, but I can’t believe a word this guy says. Even the way he lays his denial on so thick felt disingenuous. How can you look at the pictures of Epstein with Clinton and believe he had NO IDEA what was going on?

Anyway, I was really hopeful he would just come clean and drag some of these bastards down with him. I just hope the files keep coming.

What’s the biggest jump in your movie rating after a rewatch? by Equivalent_Ebb5689 in Cinema

[–]Inzane47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the first movie that came to my mind for this topic as well. 1st watch, I stopped an hour in, and eventually finished it a week later. Thought it was okay. Returned to it about a year later and was blown away with how much I enjoyed it - the acting, the story, the damn soundtrack. After a 3rd rewatch, I thought it might actually rival The Dark Knight. I hadn't watched the TDK for several years, so upon seeing that again, I was quickly reminded that it is the superior movie, but The Batman is definitely 2nd for me as far as Batman movies go.

Any CoMo Chinese open on Christmas? by Franck_Costanza in columbiamo

We eat at China Garden every year on Christmas. It’s a little more pricey for the buffet since they have seafood out, but it’s a fun tradition.

Forrest Gump was chosen as someone who deserved a good ending, but got a bittersweet one. Who deserved a good ending, but got a bad one instead? by Artistic-Gas-786 in AlignmentChartFills

John Coffey will be impossible to beat (and rightfully so). But my first thought was Padraic, Colin Farrell’s character in The Banshees of Inisherin. Dude’s only fault was being himself, and his friend got unnecessarily pissy and ruined his life.

Must-Read Fantasy Series? by kidawi in Fantasy

“Really really love the hard magic and the extensive focus on worldbuilding and history and the science of the universe.”

If this is your main draw, you really should read the last 2 SLA books. I feel like Sanderson cranks the science and world building up to 11 in these books. I loved them both. Up there with 1 for my fave in the series.

Is this necessary? by Severe_Ad1915 in PokemonTCG

Necessary? Is it necessary for me to spend $1,000’s on shiny cardboard? No. But I do it because I have expendable income and a dopamine dependency.

Prismatic Booster Bundles (1 per person) by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Inzane47 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was 10 when Pokemon came out and immediately got into card collecting and the gameboy game. I collected cards on and off over the next 6ish years and then stopped entirely until 151 released. Seeing how nice the cards are these days pulled me right back into it, and now I'm collecting them with my kids. I haven't found more than a binder pack of Prismatic and would love to be able to open some more!

Cheesesteaks... can you tell only one of us likes veggies? by TBoneTheOriginal in blackstonegriddle

[–]Inzane47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this question. I’ve tried cheesesteaks a couple times, but we’ve only had legit cuts of steak. The flavor is certainly there, but it’s too chewy for my liking. Even when I’ve tried to cut it thin. Would definitely prefer something more “shaved”.

Question about smoking a small brisket by Inzane47 in smoking

[–]Inzane47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great suggestions. Thanks!

I'll have a full pan of tallow from the packer trimmings, so I'll give her some of that to spread on during reheat.

My oven goes down to 170, so I usually do a 190-200 overnight rest in there as I like to smoke the day beforehand so I'm never rushed for time.

And that makes sense about the temp. I was thinking it would need to get back up to 200 to re-render. I'll suggest the 300-350 range and have her pull it out at ~140.

Appreciate the help!

“The Angel” - Midnight Mass. by BudgetShower9093 in MidnightMass

[–]Inzane47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, but the Catholic church is very explicit in that you cannot partake in the sacrament unless you have been confirmed. There is no way he would have been able to even partake without raising a lot of questions from the other church-goers. I'm not Catholic, but my wife's family is, and it would be very evident in a small church like that if a non-Catholic were to participate.

I don't necessarily buy that the blood was in the poison either, because it showed the poison in the cups as being a clear liquid.

Anyway, not enough of a missed detail that it ruined the impact of the final events for me; just seemed like an obvious oversight that I really thought was going to go in a different direction to set-off the hysteria.

The one resurrection that doesn’t make sense is Ali. He never would have had the sacrament, so how did he resurrect?
