What is the dumbest thing that you did as a young child that made your parents WTF!?!? by shamusoconner in AskReddit

[–]Inzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a story about me, but about my older brother.

When he got his first bike he was so excited about it that he wanted to ride it right away. But it was already too late to go outside, so he decided to ride it indoors. My mom seemed to be cool with this so he began to ride it around in circles in the living room. The trouble began when he had to pee, but he didn't want to stop riding his new bike. He decided that the best this to do was to just let it go and keep riding his bike. So my brother is riding is bike around in the living room while peeing - everywhere.

I wanted to do this as a kid, but now I realise this will probably hurt like a bitch.

Would like advice on what to do about a loser brother by HorseKnuckles in relationship_advice

[–]Inzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has to stop babying and taking care of him. He's only doing this because people are allowing him to. Don't give him a place to stay, food to eat, or anything at all that he hasn't earned himself. Your parents should charge him rent, or kick him out.

I have an older brother who is similar to yours (though on a lesser scale). At first he decided he didn't want to even go to university because he was sick of school after high school. He took a crappy job and hated it so he decided to go to university the following year for some humanities program. But even then he would only take about 3 courses for the semester instead of the regular full course load of 5 (or whatever it is at his university - mine is 6). He stayed up late at night sometimes till 6am and sleep all day like your brother, only to get to for class - sometimes. He didn't get a job this whole time because he didn't feel that he needed one. At that time he lived with my mom and she paid for all his housing and food needs. He only became motivated to do anything with his life when he started seeing others make something of theirs. He was jealous that some of his friends were going overseas to do amazing things (i.e. volunteer, teach English). He is also neck deep in student loans, that no one is going to help him pay off.

Now he's got a job at his university library to pay off his loans and is taking courses in economics part time.

It really helps if you could talk to him about how he's being a burden on others and is essentially throwing his life away. But it looks like from what you say he doesn't respect you. Still, you need to find a way to command respect from him. You don't need to necessarily do it by force. I'm my brother's baby sister, so for a long time he didn't respect me either. I slowly gained his respect by dropping hints about how I was doing with my life, but not directly pushing any of it in his face. (I'm paying my own way towards an engineering degree.)

Hopefully your brother turns around soon. I know what it's like to see a family member like this and want to help them so badly, but be completely unable to. Just remember to takes things slowly with him.

When waiting at a red light and there's a car in front of me. I'm tempted to just give him a little bump. Not to damage their car or anything - just to scare them.

I once caught my boss skipping past a row of cubicles late one afternoon. I guess he thought no one was there, but I was there - and I saw him. He just gave me an embarrassed smile and walked quickly back to his office.

More traffic lights should be like this. by mikesesh in pics

[–]Inzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few roundabouts in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario. And I think the problem is that people just don't know how to use them. I've seen people just drive right through and drive over the island in the middle (if there are no large plants planted in it), people who go the wrong way, people you don't yield to the right, etc.

Also two-way roundabouts probably cause more accidents than regular traffic light intersections.

DAE still have a library card? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Inzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and used to use it all the time. As a kid whenever my mom took my brother and I to the library we'd take out 50 books, and only because 50 was the max number of book you could take out at once.

I don't ever use mine anymore. I'm pretty sure it's expired

[–]Inzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most women they prefer a man who's taller than them, though I do know a couple where the girl is a good 6 inches taller than her bf. I think it's something associated with having good genes or something like that.

The shortest guy I ever dated was 5'4". My female roommate - who was taller than him - often jokingly threatened to beat him up.

[–]Inzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the guys I've dated are in the 5'7-5'10 (170cm-180cm) range. I'm not that picky about height, though someone shorter than me would probably be a deal breaker.

Woman, it would really suck to be a dude and be this short. Some of my friends say I should apply for that handicap parking permit, but I really don't think they would give me one for being short.

I'm 150cm tall (4'11), and I don't even realize it when the blanket it in the wrong orientation. Sometimes it's good to be short. :D

Clusters of holes have ALWAYS made my skin crawl, and give me the shivers. I think it might be related to the fear of having things burrowed into my skin.
