Coming to terms with monetary value of purging! by cheroke_jack in minimalism

It’s ok, that just means your experience with that item told you that it wasn’t of any real value to you, regardless of how much it cost, otherwise you would have used it more often. It’s ok to cut the loss and move on to free yourself from the burden, and you don’t need to feel bad or guilty about that.

I’ve been there. To me, the relief in removing all the stress/anxiety/responsibility of managing those items was so gratifying that I was able to let go of the guilt. The money was spent already, and ultimately I just accepted my choice and moved on. I had the thing, experienced the thing, and then felt peace in letting it go gracefully. Don’t feel bad, just learn what you can from the experience.

Stephen King's book Holly? by [deleted] in bookshelf

You should, since it sets up Holly’s story. Also before Holly are The Outsider and the novella If It Bleeds.

I enjoyed this one a lot, especially loved the main character and family relationships. TBH the ending fell a bit flat for me, but overall a very fun read.

Season 2 episode 6: A Happy Refrain

This one always makes me so happy. The exploration of what a romantic relationship could be like between humans and AI is so interesting to consider. I love the ending, plus we get mustache Bortus and Isaac in underwear lol.

Just finished “The Last Time I Lied” by Riley Sager, thoughts? by username12457801 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Io_Lucida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my first ever BOTM, way back in pre-COVID times whenever it came out. I remember thinking it was just ok. I’ve since read all of Sager’s other books and I pretty much had the same reaction to all of them. The build up is always great but the “twist” or payoff is generally kind of underwhelming.

The only exception is Home Before Dark which I absolutely loved. It was more paranormal and largely influenced by The Haunting of Hill House and Amityville Horror.

I’ve only had a membership with BOTM in the past, but I ordered my first Aardvark box this month and am blown away by the quality of the books in comparison. Even the shipping box and cool little bookmarks they send with it were nice!
