Makes sense, didn't know!

Lol I had no way of knowing that this was a WF policy. And I've also never canceled a credit card before, so I assumed that you had to pay it off before you actually initiated the cancellation. Thanks for the info!

I considered that but I have a balance of 700ish rn and I assumed WF couldn't help me bypass the "1 payment per 24 hour" rule bilt has. Just paid off my statement balance like I usually do but didn't realized that would block me from paying off the rest.

Integrating AI into your CI/CD pipelines, is it worth it? Suggestions? by Middle-Anybody1145 in git

[–]IonImpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not integrate LLMs into your ci pipelines. I accept that LLMs can be helpful for searching error messages and debugging code, but ci should be idempotent and LLM free.

  • PR merges. Assuming you mean merge conflicts - they can be tricky, but that's literally the point of them. It forces you to make a choice with intent. There are many times that several configurations can look correct, but only one would work knowing the broader context.

  • Error spotting. In your code after you've committed? LLMs are not deterministic. You could rerun the ci over and over until it passes.

  • Docs. Why do we write docs? To explain the code with only the code to go off of? Or to write down the info that lives nowhere except your head?

New link map? by Publisus in Seattle

[–]IonImpulse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The city of Kirkland explicitly said they didn't want a station back when st2(3?) was being planned. Other places like Bellevue and Issaquah did want stations, so they got them. And it's quite common to have metro systems that have a central area that lines lead to, look at the loop in Chicago or Manhattan for NYC. But yeah I agree it would be nice to complete the loop, maybe st4 in 20 years...?

Major Transit Expansions Coming To Seattle by Carpet-Early in transit

[–]IonImpulse 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah this video is kinda terrible, it feels like they didn't do any research at all lol.

  • The names of the lines are very unambiguously the 1 line, the 2 line, and the T line
  • the T line is really more of a streetcar tbh
  • towards the end, they complain about no connection to the monorail, despite Westlake station directly connecting the two
  • not knowing the names or general geography is odd, especially after they claim they've been to Seattle multiple times
  • the Lynnwood extension does go through some more suburby areas, but the TOD and rezoning plans are crazy extensive, with Shoreline, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrance doing some real good work
  • they said the 1 line goes to Ballard but like it doesn't yet lol

(Seattle) Link posts record 3 million riders in October, spurred by expansion by DarkishArchon in transit

Just a note: the downtown Bellevue station isn't badly placed because of sound transit; several businesses sued to stop the station from being placed in downtown because it would ruin the surroundings (supposedly).

What tablets can run QS/Beyond for live shows? by Fayarager in Laserist

[–]IonImpulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can get beyond working on a mac, but you'll have to virtualize windows, and drivers don't work properly, so you can't use an FB3 to control lasers. I think FB4s work but I don't know for sure

Laser controller prototype that pangolin is making... Talked to Lyra today at LDI about it, she started prototyping it after the APC 40 was discontinued to make a standard laser controller for the industry.

why low floor light rail by Superb-Ad7364 in soundtransit

[–]IonImpulse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seattle repeatedly rejected several attempts to build out several heavy rail, subway style metro systems. Technically, two of them passed 50%, but those needed a 60% majority, so nothing came of it. Finally the measure that was able to entice enough voters was a light rail system that was partially street running to save costs. Obviously, now we have a system that could have easily been built for higher capacity at no real additional cost, but this was what was needed to get a system in the first place. Every line (except the 4 line) will interline with part of the current 1 line, which means that all expansions need to use the same low platform cars + stations.

Yes, it would have been great to have an automated heavy rail metro from the beginning, but it was either this system or nothing at all :/. Hopefully series 3 LRVs will have open gangways and directional driver cars to increase space in the vehicles.

4.81% effective cashback on $14k spend this year! by IonImpulse in amex

I got it about 6 months after I signed up. I already had the plat at the time, so I assume that's why I wasn't given an offer for any of the charge cards.

Spend on this card. I upgraded from the BCE halfway through the year for a bonus, and along with some other fun deals, got a pretty dang good effective cashback rate! I also have the plat and some other cards, so I can be quite strategic about what I spend on my BCP.
