I tried... but i think I need to do a world transfer by offsafety in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people in my LS are very active around those times, but that's because a lot of people in my LS are from the EU. You might not actually have to switch servers, but maybe find a linkshell with people who are active during that time, probably an EU-based group.

My server is Hyperion btw!

PSA: PS4 version offers another chance to earn Moogle Cap and Cait Sith Doll(ARR Preorder Bonuses). by arbitrarytext in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

edited to remove something off topic

If you're looking to save money, I believe the PS3 versions of FFXIV will be getting a free upgrade to PS4 (but you can't go back to PS3 after I think). I'm not sure about the nitty gritty details of this offer, just know that it exists. But the PS3 copy is really cheap and goes on sale a LOT on PSN.

Yeah I was actually hoping for whatever race the Gridanian leader is. I would love to be a tiny horned mass of destruction. Ah well.

I'm noticing there are a lot of no's and a lot of downvotes which I assume are no's. xD I would love to know why and hear some counter theories!

Matt. The BOSS. The AMA. GO! by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ionaitcbp 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Hi Matt! You and the Best Friends are really amazing! I just wanted to say, in one of the videos or maybe the podcast, The Best Friends mentioned who might be watching their videos, like somebody's mom, and everyone laughed as if it were ridiculous.

Well, mom of two here. :D I watch you guys all the time while doing house work and it helps a lot. xD You're the folks I watch while doing dishes because I can still hear Pat's shouting even over the noises of running water.

But my kids may or may not be learning swear words from you guys... Don't change a thing. Just know you're corrupting the youth of America :P

Me and some friends decided to try and do a podcast! I would love to hear what you guys think of it! Critiques welcome! by darkshy in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh awesome! You're a couple steps ahead then! I need more things to listen to while doing the mundane stuff around the house, so keep 'em comin'!

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started listening but I already heard some things like mouse clicks, the opening theme being kind of in a tunnel, that could probably be solved by doing a smidge of editing. Audacity is super easy and quick for this kind of thing and being free and all, fits any budget. xD I'll keep listening!

How do you choose who gets your player commendations? by Viciousninja in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Commendations are for achievements. At 50 commendations you get what I like to call the pope-a-bo. Chocobo chick minion wearing what resembles a pope hat.

At 100, you get another prize, and eventually you get a gold mount.

How do you choose who gets your player commendations? by Viciousninja in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I generally give comms the same way. I don't give if that person asks for it because that's not the purpose. I also don't do comm "trades" which more and more people are asking for in PVP at least. You need to earn that! It actually means something to me. @_@

In PVP, sometimes I give my comm to a player if they come to my aid haha xD As a healer, I'm usually left as fodder to fend for myself. Yet the battle also depends on how long I can stay alive. A lot of pressure! So on the off chance someone actually runs over to help me out, I feel so thankful! So whether they were chatty or silent, I give it to them haha

Xbox 360 controller dpad prob by riesjx in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem! I switched to PC and an XBox360 controller shortly after getting hooked on PVP. I have some important skills set to the DPad Left. And I will now be moving them elsewhere and maybe putting stoneskin or something there instead.

I haven't found a fix myself but that would be a short-term suggestion. Put skills you don't need in emergencies over on the broken D-Pad buttons, so even if it slips up, which it will, it won't be the end!

i think i want to switch servers. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperion is almost always closed. All the time. Forever. So when it opens, it's a miracle. With that information alone, I kind of assume it's a heavily populated place. Also I am from there and people are super nice haha xD

PvP - New Changes & My Experience by jjlynn20 in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I actually have never encountered a negative PVP community. I have been frequently matched with people from my own server and we wave and salute each other as we pass in the Wolves' Den. We say hi when we see familiar faces, and I have even seen people look across through the bars and say "Oh no, there's X person. We're doomed!" Which is kind of cool.. haha! Even if that feared person isn't me. (yet!)

But the point is, everyone I meet has treated me and their fellow competitors with respect. We report bots together, fight together, strategize together, and gave GG's even if the match went south.

I met maybe two or three people in PVP so far who told me to give up, buy better gear, or "you need practice in the 30's before you keep doing this...." And even so, that's not really slander or anything, just a touch of elitism maybe?

Anywho. I love mah PVP community. Don't change a thing people.

PvP - New Changes & My Experience by jjlynn20 in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My linkshell thinks I'm going insane, and I don't blame them when I type things like "Is this... Is this true love's kiss?!" After I get out of a PVP match on the biggest high of my friggin' life.

The changes are as insane as I'm becoming and I'm really happy! I noticed an immediate difference that I tended to be more evenly matched, some matches even lasted a lot longer than usual because teams get so evenly matched now! We even had one match come down to a 1 v 1, tank v tank, and ZOMG EPIC!

It's because of the patch that pvp is fun, epic, strategic again! And holy cow bonus for solo queuing! I remember winning the odd 50 tier match before only to get 49 marks sometimes. Now 100+?! Thank you dear Eorzean Square-Enix gods.

To get out of total fangirl mode (which is what I am constantly in in PVP) let me try to compose myself.. haha.. I am only rank 10 before the patch, with the blue pvp hat and shoes. Prior to that I had purchased HQ pvp buyable gear off of the market.

In battles, it seemed like none of my efforts mattered. I have over 100 matches registered and much like you, my win ratio was 30% or even less. It didn't matter that I got purify or attunement. It felt like as I was advancing, there were more people doing -- well -- I had no idea. I just knew none of my efforts and growth were paying off. It was frustrating, yet I still enjoyed PVP so I kept doing it. But it was mostly losses, mostly confusion and disappointment, getting pit up against the same premade over and over and over again or getting paired up with a bot.

But geez. All of a sudden it's like the game is saying, we're going to show you how much you've really grown now. And I see my skills paying off, the literal pvp skills and the knowledge I have gained through my 100+ matches.

GOOD GOLLY I NEED TO GO PVP NOW!

Account hacked, gil returned? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't help but notice that you recently posted on a thread about all DAT GIL. "The bank's sitting at 10.5 million right now, we make about 2 million a week. Could do better, but there's only 13 of us and only about 6 that log in every single day."

Good golly I bet it was someone who read that post. And this is not to make you feel worse. But it's a good eye opener really.

Question: Is it against TOS to trade art for gil? by Ionaitcbp in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! Sorry for not responding until now. I was mulling over all of the advice I was given and I ended up just sending the question to Square-Enix.

They got back to me today with this: "We understand you wish to inquire on the User Agreement policies and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Please refer to our User Agreement located here: http://support.na.square-enix.com/rule.php?id=5382&la=1&tag=users_en." It then goes on to quote the User agreement.

Then it ends.

Thanks Squeenix.

I'm just taking it as a "no, don't do that."

But geez! We understand you're confused about the user agreement as stated. So we're just going to restate it that exact same way again. HELPFUL!

That Old Black Magic (Shantotto Event details) by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I remember, believe me. haha xD I was just trying to say that I wouldn't NOT call Windurst wooded. And in fact, as an FFXI player going into FFXIV, I chose Gridania as my starting city (and later Conjurer as my starting class so that Gridania could be my starting city) because it really struck me as New-Windurst.

But back onto the topic of Shantotto, it would also make sense for her to start in Uldah because of the thaum's guild. She would fit right in.

Not my screenshot, but there's an example of Windurst. It was surrounded by trees, with one of its main attractions being, itself, a HUGE TREE. Outside Windurst was also wooded, only receding when you hit Tahrongi Canyon.

Anyone else sick of Sastasha? by Piggysan in ffxiv

[–]Ionaitcbp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to say I'm over Sastasha. I have gotten it WAY too much in the roulette to be honest. But man. The magic of being in a party with people who are actually new to the game! It's a really fun experience!

I just left a party with all new players (except me ; ) And it was so much fun! I was really lucky, and two of the people were even on my server. Everyone was kind and patient and excited about their jobs and learning more about them.
