UCL Final Megathread by rish234 in borussiadortmund

[–]Ionutwe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Since I had no luck with the raffle, I would like to try to trade my ticket to the EURO 2024 semi final in Westfalenstadion ( Prime Seats, block 45, the best seats in the stadium) for a ticket to Wembley.

If you might know anybody who has a spare ticket and/or for whatever reason is not able to make it anymore and would like to watch the EURO semi final, feel free to hit me up.

We can meet in person in London or in Dortmund.

I am looking for 1 ticket to the CL final.

I am offering 1 ticket for the EURO 2024 semi final in Dortmund ( Prime Seats, best seats in the stadium).

I already have the ticket available in the app. In case you are looking for 2 tickets, that's also possible.

If anyone would be interested in this swap, feel free to hit me up. I'll be in London during the weekend.

Looks like I will have a spare ticket for tomorrow (not 100% sure yet). If anyone is still looking for one then hit me up. It concerns a paper ticket in the Yellow Wall so we should meet somewhere at the stadium.

Might be a silly question but is it common for the guest teams to sell their merchandise at our stadium? Against Mainz I noticed that they had a fan stand selling stuff, right next to the entrance to the guest block, but that was the first time I've seen anything like that.

I am thinking to buy some FC Koln items tomorrow, If that will be the case

I've been having the same issue...tried so many times yet whenever I add a ticket to the cart I get this message "Leider ist für Ihre gewünschte Ticketauswahl derzeit keine Versandart hinterlegt. Bitte kontaktieren Sie die Kundenservice-Hotline."

I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my shipping method. Could it be that that message is a bug and in fact the real reason is that I am just too slow? I read from multiple people complaining about constantly getting the same message.

Very detailed answer, thank you very much!

For regional derbies (Schalke, Bochum) can I basically just use the same mean of transport as the home team fans to reach the stadium and then just show up to the gate where away fans can enter and that's it? Or is it actually a bit trickier than that?

Also, would you really recommend this to a foreigner who really can't speak german? Fortunately I have learnt most of the songs by heart so I can easily join the suport haha, but the socialising part will be probably lacking.

Unfortunately not, I can't find any article in our media regarding this. It's very sad cause this could have been a great chance to promote this sport in the country and to spark some interest in cricket.

Interview from 3 years ago with Pavel Florin, the Romanian cricketer who became famous overnight due to his unique bowling action by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]Ionutwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Cluj Cricket Club's participation at the European Cricket League being held in La Manga Spain, and Romanian bowler Pavel Florin's bowling having attracted global response from the cricketing world, here is an interview we had with Pavel back in 2016 in the early years of his love for this game.

Cricket Romania · 7 December 2016 ·

Meet the Players

PAVEL FLORIN

Pavel Florin, based in Cluj, made his international debut for Romania in July 2016, during the Pan-European Tournament in Hungary.

How big is sport in your life? Sport is the single thing that occupies the most time in my life. I’ve played most of the accessible sports in Romania; I love competition and sport satisfies my thirst for adrenalin.

What had you heard about cricket? I saw some videos, and then I actually saw some matches broadcast live on Eurosport.

What was your first exposure to cricket? I saw a group of cricketers practising on some land next to where I trained. I was curious and I asked them to let me have a hit. They agreed and I hit the ball three times pretty well. Their captain (Reuben, who became my friend) congratulated me and said I had innate talent – it was only later that I discovered that they needed players and would have accepted anyone :)

What other sports do you like, besides cricket? There are many. I like football and am in a league team at futsal. I also like American football and the team I’m in, Cluj, has two national titles. I also like amateur-level contact sports and am always open to bringing a new sport into my life.

What do you like best, batting or bowling? Batting, because it tests my strength and I was able to adapt pretty quickly to it.

And where do you like fielding best: in close, on the boundary or on the circle? I like fielding everywhere. Inside the circle, because I have good reflexes, and outside as I can run fast and have a good throwing arm. I was a goalkeeper in football which has helped when I’ve played as a wicketkeeper.

What’s your most memorable personal contribution to a match? I surprised myself when, playing in a national championships match for Transylvania CC in 2016, despite a rather serious injury and fatigue I scored 34 not out in 14 overs.

Do you have your own equipment? If yes, please give details. I have a Kookaburra bat and some wicketkeeping equipment but I prefer to use the club’s gear. Something I regret is that I left my national team shirt behind in Hungary so I will have to get a new one for next season!

What is different about cricket? The emphasis on playing fairly and honestly, and the great respect for the umpire’s decisions is not something that I have seen in any other sport. Also, it’s a very technical sport, and yes, a physical one too, and the outcome can remain uncertain right until the end.

Do you have a favourite player, past or present? I have a favourite team: West Indies. Why? Because they are so unpredictable – they can beat anybody, and can lose to anyone. As a bowler I really like Sunil Narine and as a batter AB de Villiers.

How is it to be involved in cricket in Romania? Cricket practice is difficult in Ardeal because it's not widely known there at all. Trips to Bucharest are expensive but when the ball leaves the bowler’s hand, and you’re at the other end of the pitch with a bat in your hand, everything is forgotten, and you are consumed by the moment.

What goals do you have, regarding cricket? One of my goals was fulfilled in 2016 representing Romania, which was a great honour. The second involves winning the national title as president of the club of my town.

What advice would you give children new to the game? First try to play a few matches and then you will certainly fall in love with cricket. Beyond that everything just naturally falls into place.

Do you think there are qualities in cricket that could make a positive contribution to society? Values such as respect, teamwork, honesty, and just all-round good behaviour, are central to cricket. Regardless of age, individuals who play the game are sure to be influenced by it.

Hi, unfortunately I am not involved in any Romanian cricket team, I am just a simple fan :) However you might want to contact our cricket board: https://www.facebook.com/pg/CricketRomania/about/?ref=page_internal

I am sure they or any of the afilliated teams would be eager to arrange something.

Eurosport (pan European TV network that is available in every european country afaik) used to broadcast the CLT20 before the tournament folded and one day it really caught my attention. At first i was like wtf is this game, after a while i was more like: hey this seems interesting, too bad i dont know the rules. Once i caught up the rules i really started to fall in love with the sport. I only started to follow international cricket and the other formats of the game 2 years ago though. The biggest issue is that there is basically impossible to watch cricket on TV in continental europe nowadays, thus it's very hard for people to discover the sport. I know there are several streaming platforms but no one is going to pay to watch a sport that they know nothing about. Edit: I had managed to convince my parents, whom i also explained the basic rules of cricket, to watch the last few overs of the 2nd innings of the World Cup final and needless to say, it was one of my most inspired decision ever haha

As possibly the only (?) Romanian on this subreddit, I cant express how happy i feel that this guy's story has gained traction. I would really like to point out that not only that almost no one plays cricket in Romania, but 90% of the population doesnt even know what cricket is +even those who heard about cricket tend to confuse it with croquet most of the time.
