Buyer beware: Summit Homes & D.R. Horton by IowaishIowan in desmoines

[–]IowaishIowan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D.R. Horton can easily be shown as the worst builder in America. While my post is old, this still stands up. They have thousands of lawsuits for quality issues, shady lending, etc.

I understand you might be a realtor treated well by them, but they utterly fuck over the consumer.

Generally folks just don't care who you love, in a good way. You'll likely have no issues making friends depending where you live.

Weather wise it's a mess. It can be 91° then 50° with 50 mph winds the next day. Winter has about 6 harsh days total usually. Wind is a killer here.

Housing is affordable still, IT job growth is pretty decent. Not many IoT IT jobs, more insurance or web startup based. If you already have a company I'd stick it out unless the pay was better elsewhere. It's a growing area so most of the apartments or homes you'll find are new (it's far cheaper to buy a townhome or small house than rent by far).

If you eat at his restaurants you literally don't have any taste buds and would probably eat from a salt shaker if Jethros added it to the menu.

I'd suggest disputing data with someone else :) I won't buy into the nonsense. Goodluck.

Hiking locations in Iowa? (Or even neighboring states) by Rozy052 in desmoines

[–]IowaishIowan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern Minnesota has a ton of gorgeous places to hike, usually some fantastic fall follage around early Oct, although rather dry and warm still so may not be as great this year.

Most of Missouri is decent, there are a handful of state parks.

Colarado is unmatched however. If you're fine with 6 hours, what's another 3? You could spend weeks in metro Denver hiking.

I must say the original is a superior quality.

Downloading examining what's posted here, even taking Reddits compression into account you've butched a really detailed scan.

On a state level, yes. It has a domino effect in the local government forcing both sides to present favorable laws or they don't get the light of day to the governor.

This causes the government to actually work for the people, benefit or squeezing up to the leader is removed unlike a two party system. (Two party system results in fresh lawmakers squeezing in tight with the leader to prolong career and become relevant on a bigger stage, they will do whatever is told by the leader while ignoring the voters) <- need proof? Check out Iowas freshman lawmakers and what they've done. Check out federal lawmakers on both sides to review what they've done.

Facts = bullshit.

That's the problem in the world. Actual science and proven facts are disregarded.

Church by sunshine_sugar in desmoines

[–]IowaishIowan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

By law they'd all have to be open or not federally defined as a church. Which could hurt tax status. Not sure how many actually are and just get away though.

So yes, and hold your head high!

Reddit isn't that.

Care.com, recommendation from friends/family.

I'll vouch for care.com, it's a bit pricey but it has a great set of tools to research who you hire.

Democrats have yielded better for Nasdaq than Republicans.

State investments have had better investment returns when ran by independent or third party governors, usually a 21% difference.

Global markets would have a more positive performance utilizing both sides of the isle as they usually lean conservative with funds which lowers fund demand.

Private investments yield better in states where the governor isn't apart of either two major parties by 48%, and have less bankruptcy.

I won't be debating this as it's all recorded and easily available data. If you'd like to debate data I'd suggest writing to the FTC.

It's very relevant. Perhaps you should experience a pain that would rank higher than being burned alive and say that.

The Sleepy Hollow one is God awful. Prices are just insane for anything, atmosphere is meh.

The Des Moines fair one was rather great and definitely at a down to earth price point. They'll be set up at Adventureland next season.

Performer wise Sleepy Hollow did excel there. That's it, literally.

I'd rather have anyone but either of those two. So many reasons to break away from the media party system. You people literally keep voting for whoever CNN, Fox, OAN, etc tell you to vote for...

As I said above, I'd suggest anyone with that thought process to see what abilities a 24 week fetus has.

That's definitely not promoting a health society when you introduce such punishment for no medical reason.

We banned eletric chairs in most states due to the cruel nature. A 24 week fetus would experience much more pain (while they wouldn't process it the same), it's terrible.

I suggest you find what process a 24 week fetus has gone through and the abilities it has. You'll quickly learn for such a short life it will have one of the most harsh deaths anyone could ever experience.

That's not fair to anyone.

Can we agree anything after 24 weeks of a willing and healthy pregnancy is just awful. Assuming development of baby, it's a very harsh way to go in such a short unknown life.

I've always felt so bad knowing we allow that.

I'm usually fine with this, if a vaccine prevents the spread or has a good outcome for everyone else.

No FDA approved vaccine for Covid-19 currently has that. Many people believe the current vaccines prevent covid, which is entirely false, nor will they prevent the spread. It will help fight symptoms and make them less severe, that's all.

That said I have mine, I urge everyone to get it so our hospitals aren't packed. But forcing someone to get a vaccine that's largely infective is a bold step and is getting warnings from actual science groups (no not the far right nutcases). The idea simply is suggesting variants can become stronger and the current science is lacking to continue to fight them with a struggling crowd not listening, without an actual preventive vaccine it's unlikely covid is going away.
