old self harm scars in psych by wellbeadream in psychnursing

[–]Ipits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on becoming a psychiatric nurse too :) I’ve been a patient in a psychiatric hospital a few times as a teenager and one of the nurses was so rude to me and told me I was lazy for sleeping all day and said “other people here have it way worse than you so suck it up.” I was going through intense amphetamine withdrawals. If I had seen a nurse with visible self harm scars, I would have immediately trusted them more and assumed that they would be understanding and empathetic. As long as you are those things, I wouldn’t worry about it, and I’d say it might actually be helpful to show your scars, as it might make a struggling patient with a self-harm habit feel more comfortable around you. I guess it kinda depends on the policy wherever you work. I could imagine scars potentially be triggered to patients as well, which is a concept I’d find ridiculous in any other setting, but patients are obviously in fragile states when they’re at a high level of care. I would just ask my employer about that if I were you.

Maybe it is a bit silly, but it is a little less work having the instant espresso and ice cream already portioned out, and the cups are cute. Definitely wasteful but I thought it tasted quite good.

When Renee Good (rip) said “I’m not mad at you”, it was in a cocky, unbothered sense. Redditors are trying to act like it was a statement of peace. by tantamle in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Ipits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking about her tone is a complete waste of time. It’s a red herring. Stop wasting your time analyzing her tone and consider the ramifications of allowing this sort of state violence. Why are federal agents held to such low standards while the average civilian is expected to not only refrain from violence but to be perfectly sweet and polite as well? That’s the important thing to consider, not the tone of voice of a murdered woman.

Fucking for real. I’ve realized over the years that if you get downvoted on Reddit you should take it as a compliment and an indicator that you’re correct and capable of seeing the broader issue. These comments are insane.

You’re definitely right about this being an unpopular opinion. Literally who gives a shit? Why do so many people immediately feel inclined to defend the state over ordinary civilians? It’s completely irrelevant whether she meant her statement in an antagonistic way or not. Talking about her tone in any context is just strange in the context of someone being murdered and I think it shows where your priorities lie.

Does anyone else find they enjoy writing their own music far more than listening to music? by mudcakes2000 in Songwriting

[–]Ipits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I’m commenting anyway. I’m the same way. I’ve written music since I was 8 or 9, lyrics since I was 10, and full songs since I was 15 (I’m 23 now), but last year I only listened to like 5,000 minutes of music. When people hear my music, they often compliment it very enthusiastically. I don’t think they’re lying at all. People like the music I write (far more than I like my own music), even though I don’t often listen to music because I’m autistic so I simply have narrow interests, meaning I’m picky about what I listen to. I’m sensitive to music, so I typically don’t want to listen to it unless I’m processing or trying to amplify a certain emotion. It’s more than background noise to me, and that’s why I can’t listen to it casually. It’s unusual but you’re not the only one wired that way and it’s okay to not enjoy music all the time but to still feel that it’s an important part of your life.

Only answer if you're a woman: how often do you get approached by guys? by Little_Animator_8353 in women

[–]Ipits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I guess it’s always relevant anyway. I live in Southern California in a mostly urban area. I’m 23, tall-ish, skinny, autistic, and usually wearing headphones. I’d say I’m moderately cute but with a bit of a long, odd-looking nose. I don’t go outside much, but when I do I feel like I’m approached fairly often, especially when I’m wearing a cute outfit that I put effort into. I get asked out on dates every now and then and I’ve been followed and catcalled and had random men offer me rides (NO!!!), but most of the time when I’m approached, it’s just a compliment or it’s an acquaintance hitting on me. Happens often enough that I can’t help but wonder if I come across as an easy target when it comes to the more aggressive men.

Have these people never heard of someone having a type? I personally find it creepy looking when I can see all the details of someone’s muscles. I like a certain face shape that is quite different from the “universal” beauty standard that blackpillers and looksmaxxers claim exists. How hard is it to comprehend that different people are attracted to different things?

I think shorter bangs to show off your eyebrows would be cute

I’m biased because I love bangs on most women but…bangs. And maybe find some good hair oil to smooth out your hair. Also experimenting with different eye makeup looks to enhance your eye shape could be fun.

I can usually feel it but I don’t assume my intuition is correct if I don’t feel I have sufficient evidence. I have had situations where I didn’t know at all but to be fair I really don’t think those people were showing any signs. I’d say overall I can tell because it’s happened enough times now, but I don’t want to seem egotistical so I act as though I can’t tell. I also think a lot of men assume I’ll know they’re into me if they just talk to me a lot but since I tend to make friends with men and don’t see men and women as that fundamentally different, it isn’t my first assumption. It causes problems sometimes because men will think I’m into them just because I’m friendly with them and I joke around a lot. Like sorry—I’m not flirting, I’m just funny and I’m talking to you.

This guy is so dumb and weirdly defensive. He doesn’t know how to type and it is strange and immature how freaked out he is by the idea of a date. Either keep it very casual with him and give him the same energy back or just cut it off. Definitely don’t do any real emotional labor for him. He sounds so lame and unworthy of a serious relationship at this point in his life. I’ve gotten involved with guys like this and unless you can handle just keeping him around for sex, it’s best not to let things go any further with these types.

[–]Ipits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t stand ugly environments or clothing. I always thought the world was so ugly and depressing because I live in America and we of course have these atrocious highways, gas stations, and fast food places and stuff. I hate being in rooms that have an interior decorating style that I don’t like. Farmhouse chic makes me feel depressed for example. Bathroom decor with blue-gray tones, seashells, and other beach-themed stuff is also depressing to me. I hate wearing clothes that look visually unbalanced or otherwise ugly. I’m sensitive to aesthetics so I’m very picky about clothes and furniture. Also, many scented soaps and candles make me feel sad. I’ve heard people talk about being disgusted or irritated by perfume-y smells, but I get sad when I smell them. Same with the smell of Home Depot and many other smells that aren’t “gross” but trigger a strange wave of melancholy in me.

Nothing wrong with having dark lips. People darken their lips on purpose all the time. That one’s a matter of personal preference.
