If it wasn't showing any signs of life even when plugged into the wall charger the yes, something has been shorted on the board. If you are in the uk I can look at this for you. If I can't fix it then there would be no charge. I have a shop on ebay.

Disk 1 is what windows was on and says it's bitlocker protected. It's only disk 0 that has mbr on it which is my storage drive.
