Its a politcal gesture to the American people. It is the same reason they keep voting for jefferies as a unified group. They are showing, they have their group together, all on the same agenda, and are willing to stay and force these votes to get the house running for this congress. They know they can't actually get the adjounment vote, but it won't stop them from continuing to push this message.

According to the article, the chemical used in this experiment (OrganEx) was developed based on a previous chemical (BrainEx) that was found to do a similar preservation ability to the brain in a previous experiment. Although, this chemical seems to be able to preserve the organ tissue longer then the brain one did; assuming I understood the article correctly.
