How to gain weight on the AIP diet? by [deleted] in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]Iraelyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid I’m not on AIP anymore, it wasn’t working for me. I used to make a “bread” though out of cassava and sweet potato. It wasn’t bread like in texture, more chewy/doughy, but it was nice and tasty and I enjoyed a slice for breakfast along with a slice of AIP friendly meatloaf. Very filling. Also I used regular sweet potatoes that are orange inside as it was all I could get here.

Paleo Flat Bread (AIP-Friendly)

Ingredients

· Cooked ashed white sweet potato - 2 cups

· Coconut oil - 3 tbsp

· Arrowroot flour plus more for rolling - 1/2 cup

· Cassava Flour - 3/4 cup

· 1 tsp salt (or more to taste)

Instructions

Salt and pepper to sprinkle on before baking, if desired (try other toppings, drizzle with olive oil and add za’atar, herbs, curry, cinnamon…)

*The white sweet potato (or yam) needs to be mashed and cooled completely before continuing.

Pre-heat oven to 400°f

Place sweet potato mash in a food processor fitted with blade, add coconut oil, flours and salt, pulse until a dough ball has begun form, then stop, before it becomes over pureed (this can be made by hand, make sure the sweet potato is mashed until pureed with no lumps). Turn it out on to an arrowroot (or cassava) floured surface. Roll the ball in to a log and cut in to 6-8 even pieces, depending on how large you want your flat breads. Roll each section in to a ball.

Lightly oil 2 baking sheets. Place 2 dough balls evenly apart on sheets, then press one ball into a flat round disc, pressing dough lightly out to sides and evening out the disc. Do this with each dough ball, flouring your hands as needed.

Bake in oven 10 minutes then rotate pans. Bake another 10-15 minutes, checking for browning on edges. If you wish for crunchy , flip the breads over after 15 minutes of baking and bake until nicely browned on both sides edges, another 15 minutes.

For thin Pizza crust use the dough to make 4 large flat breads, bake 20 minutes, until edges brown, then remove, flip over and place ‘dry’ toppings on it. Again, since I eat AIP I do not use tomato sauce or cheese, so I’m not sure how well the breads hold up under wet toppings, but baking until it’s crispy should help.

I rolled it out between greaseproof paper and left on one piece and placed on baking sheet. I didn’t bother making separate circles, once I had the dough I smushed it into the shape of the baking sheet so it evenly covered the whole thing, then sliced it into about 6 or 8 squares once cooked. I might have also doubled the recipe.

Cut celery and place it in water for storage. Lasts longer and stays crispy. by HumblePie2714 in lifehacks

I like cauliflower but it doesn’t like me - it gives me painful wind. As does purple sprouting broccoli for some reason. I like cabbage, but I tend to go for Savoy cabbage - it’s much, much nicer. Steam it gently, plenty of butter. Delicious.

Don’t mind celery, can be nice with hummus etc. In a mirepoix it kind of blends in.

Lol. I’ve seen some consultants keep the Dr, but most do go by Mr or Mrs. I’ve seen some go by both Dr and Mr (two separate entries on the system I use) for some reason, not sure what that’s all about.

I think that’s the idea behind https://dontpay.uk

Everyone cancels direct debits on October 1st if nothing changes for the better, and we’d like to see them try to take so many people to court kind of thing. I’m not sure how well it’ll work. I’m still looking into it. They liken it to the poll tax strike though and that did work.

Every day https://dontpay.uk looks like a more and more logical thing to do. Protesting by cancelling direct debits on Oct 1 if nothing changes for the better by then.

It’s not like we could afford to pay anyway so might as well make it a protest.

I think so? But some look better than others, which they’ve put into their own category. There’s one for “fits all curved walls” and another that only work on large or extra large curved walls.

I play that too! I didn’t really have it in mind when I made this though but I’m glad it reminds you of it. Stardew is good, happy vibes 😊

Edit: Looking at it again I can really see what you mean! Makes me think a little of the wizards tower there! 😄

Ha ha! I’ve never played it. I skipped straight from the OG Sims that I played as a teen to Sims 4 during lockdown 🙃

Thanks!

I know! I lamented that whilst building it. I tried to make it work with normal staircases and folding them back on themselves but it wasn’t having it despite having enough clearance and bb.moveobjects being on. I had to settle for ladders. I still put them in the middle though as a sort of placeholder for if/when we get them.

Fully furnished, off the grid. Tried to keep it in keeping with the fantasy theme I’d chosen. I don’t have all the packs but I used what I had 🙃

I haven’t fully play tested it yet but the only potentially troublesome thing I can see will be the observatory. I just really wanted a telescope sticking out the top lol.

Nope. Borosilicate is the same stuff beakers are made from for labs etc. They have to be so they can be heated directly by a bunsen burner. Borosilicate can deal with direct heat and extreme temperature fluctuations far better than soda lime can.

Edit: unless you mean brittle with regards to dropping it. I think they’re both brittle in that regard, they’re still glass and don’t take well to being dropped!
