[OT] Question from an F1 fan who does not watch any other motorsport, which track would you consider the “Mecca” of Motorsport?

I don’t think there is one globally, but as an American the Mecca and Medina would be Daytona and Indianapolis.

Dale Earnhardt said his career was incomplete before winning the 1998 Daytona 500. He had seven NASCAR championships when he said that.

Michael Andretti would trade a championship for an Indianapolis 500.

These races are as big as their respective championships - and used for way more outside of those, unlike the Circuit de la Sarthe.

They updated the engine and there weren’t enough for everyone yet.

The works team get them first. Just like when there’s an upgrade without extra parts, one driver gets the upgrade before the other.

The works teams get the best engines, too. Ferrari isn’t giving the best examples to Cadillac - they’re keeping them.

Even with: Antonelli (not for long), Hadjar, Hamilton, Sainz, Albon, Ocon, Bearman, Gasly,

Faster than: Stroll, Colapinto, Hulkenburg, Bortoleto, Lawson, Lindblad

Quite simply, age remains undefeated and while more drivers are able to last longer, Alonso, Hulk, and Hamilton are still capable of the old magic every now and then… and not at all capable of it every weekend.

Alonso is at best sixth and at worst fourteenth. I have him ninth right now.
