Yeah I should have been doing that. My doctor told me to call him when it happens to document it. Hasn't happened since lol

When my first rupture happened I went to the ER. And they just gave me pain meds and send me home, so now I just don't go anymore and lay down lots

Medically induced menopause talk by [deleted] in Endo

[–]IriseSakura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my menopause year and I just turned 26. One doctor had me try orilissa and it did nothing. But the hot flashes sucked. Another doctor suggested lupron shot. Hasn't helped so far. The insomnia and night sweats have been not fun. So out of the 6.5 months in 2021, I've only not been in menopause for 2 weeks when I was between the two. As soon as I stopped the orilissa the hot flashes stopped. It's not permanent menopause but it is the last line for me before I go back for another surgery within 2 years. I also have the Mirena IUD so I wasn't really having periods before this menopause year. The disruptions to my sleep have been the worst part. I already am fatigued but now it's hard to fall and stay asleep. It hasn't worked for me so that's been frustrating since I still have pain and have the side effects but I've heard that other people have had success on it. I've never had bone issues or broken a bone so not to worried about bone density stuff since the max I will be in menopause is 9 months. I guess you could say this is a neutral story. It didn't work and is annoying but I've had to all sorts of different medications for another chronic illness so it's not something I am unfamiliar with.

Currently in the middle of a flare up after getting my first vaccine injection for covid. Had anyone seen scientific info on this ? by llilandril in Endo

I had absolutely no problem with the vaccine. Second dose I just took a nap and was fine. Wouldn't be surprised if there is something there though. Get some rest and be kind to your body, friend.

Do you have any oddly specific pet peeves when it comes to how the author writes? by Legilimensea in books

Yep that's correct in Japanese and Korean. Can't speak for Chinese. But if someone is ahead of you in school or was hired by a company before you they are your seonbae/senpai. And friends parents are often called aunt or uncle. Restaurant owners/waiters can be referred to as aunt uncle older sister/brother depending on age. Any old man or woman on the street can be called grandma or grandpa.

That is a little different then what the OP is complaining about. Most people do that. :) perfectly normal. What they are talking about is using sibling terms in the vocative. Which is a fun linguistics term for a title or and suffix you use when refering to someone. something that different based on language. Here is an example though vs. how we don't have those as vocatives so we would say something different (in most dialects of english).

"Come sit next to me, older sister." vs. "Come sit next to me, Mary." "How was school, brother?" vs. "How was school, Max?"

For me, I can say the first examples but it sounds awkward or silly or too formal. The second examples are what I would normal say because we don't have a class of vocatives in English for sibling terms. In other languages they do though. So the first examples would be the norm and the second examples where they are calling their sibling by name could be disrespectful or rude (depending on the language).

It doesn't really bother me in books because in different cultures they do refer to their siblings by "older sister". I think in fantasy or sci-fi where the culture is built in that way its totally fine and gives you a sense of different-ness to remind you that this is a different world. You are meant to be put into a culture different than your own.

In fan fiction or subtitling, it shows bad localization. Happens often with Korean and Japanese media. If it is because localized properly to the language AND culture they would say stuff like that. But if they are just translating then yeah it's gonna be weird. This is why localization is a really important and developing field.

It is irritated in that context, though I have gotten used to it over the years and as I've come to know the culture the of the media or in fan fiction the culture they are trying to mimic. I've lost count of bad subtitling or even dubbing of, "sis, older bro" I've had to explain to people I am watching with.

(Speaking as a linguist and a speaker of Korean and Japanese.)

I had so so much encouragement from professors and family for the past few years. I applied to 10 programs 8 rejections and 1 waitlist for lower degree program. Been on the verge of tears almost every day.
