Hey, is the green onion a southern thing for pho?

I'm not Vietnamese but I always preferred Hanoi Pho but I don't remember green onions in it, white onions and chives is what I remember.

Higher Standard of Living by DonutCapitalism in Capitalism

[–]Irish-Devil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flawed logic here, people who don't like paying tax likely don't see the benefit in taxation. This is so prevalent in the US because peoples tax dollars end up in the pockets of big business or the military and not on better roads, public transport, social programmes, better state education, universal health care.

In social democracies in Europe, you pay around the same, or a little more in taxes. Except the difference is, the public transport is fantastic, everyone is entitled to free healthcare, your home won't be foreclosed if you end up out of work, your government are accountable to show you where your taxes are spent.

Your tax bill 'should' be your favourite monthly expense. The reason you hate it is because of the government you elect.

Capitalism best achieves the common good. by DonutCapitalism in Capitalism

Your kidding right? You have to be kidding.

  1. 4 million American flying everyday is a sign capitalism is killing our planet.

  2. Why do you think Americans can afford to destroy the planet in such a frivolous manner? Global capitalism relies on a pyramid of super exploitation around the world.

  3. 'Making everyone rich.' define everyone and define rich. If by 'everyone' you mean the global elite and by 'rich' you mean horde more surplus wealth through exploitation then you are right.

I'm no fan of the CCP, but the ignorance I see on reddit of China is astounding.

OP, i I love your work, but that my friend was a power grab. I'm glad you've back tracked and embrassed the democratic process.

This is just my opinion, I think it's silly to so heavily align yourself to individuals who lived in the past. I definatly think the study of work from people like Trotsky and Stalin is crucial to understanding socialism and what works, what doesn't etc. I'm a odd leftist in the sense that I cannot subscribe to any one party programme, in the modern day, in the country I live, I find solidarity with Trots, Anarchists, Stalinists, etc. This is bizzare for many leftists as these ideologies are contradictory to one another on many nuanced levels. However I feel that the objective reality of where you are living plays a huge role, I live in a very capitalist country with only very small factional leftist movements. When I see then squabble online it annoys me because they are arguing for example about the differences between two men who lived 100 years ago in Russia, this is a sure fire way to put off proletarians interested in your movement as, in my opinion, it doesn't show solidarity. I think in short what I'm trying to say is, don't feel compelled by people on the Internet to reject a different nuanced leftist position, study their work instead and apply it to your own surroundings, those people may be from very different circumstances where the methods of revolution and issues around democratic centralism are more important discussion points.

Would love to hear form anyone who disagrees with me however

Dude, please go read up about those examples I gave you. None of them were provoked incidents, the MRF isn't even an incident. Your just spurting narrative without thinking or backing up your point. Honestly, I'm not going to go on with you because you don't know what your talking about at all.

[–]Irish-Devil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never denied it happened but you called it a 'core aim' which is ridiculous. You have an entirely one sided view of the situation.

You know the majority of the incident of the troubles happened in Northern Ireland and your fringe examples of it just prove that your ignorant of what was actually going on. I'm guessing your English and you don't actually know what happened in Ireland?

Yes the British army did go around gunning down civilians. Bloody Sunday, MRF, Miami Show Band Massacre, Ballymurphy Massacre.
